I noticed a difference between the oil filters. The small one that is. I have a Mahle made in Austria part number OC 229, there is a photo of the box below. The Porsche filter part number 993 107 203 03 which is made in the USA which I just removed is made differently. What's the deal? Can I use the Mahle.
Below are photos of each. The Porsche filter is on the left, the Mahle is on the right. .
I'm not really concerned with the number of holes on the top. What I'm wondering about is why they are made differently on the inside? Does the Mahle have a check vavle in it or something? <img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Dsc00316.jpg" alt=" - " /> <img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Dsc00317.jpg" alt=" - " />

I've made the same comparison with 944 filters. To me the Mahle seems a little heavier, but I don't worry about official Porsche rither. I think they are both made to the same specs. In Europe the Porsche OE would probably be Mahle. In Japan it's probably something else (Japanese).
