Post Ruf front bumper cover

Has anyone mounted the Ruf front bumper cover? I saw it on the Yellowbird II in Excellence a couple of months ago - looks pretty nice. I am thinking that the next time I need to repaint mine, I would put this one on instead.

Not yet- but that is exactly what I have in mind for my 96 993TT. Have been talking to Weissach, they say 4-6 hrs for the body shop to fit, then remove, prep, paint and reinstall. Its more expensive (2,000) to buy and (as noted above) more expensive to install than some other setups, but I think it looks good,is slightly different, and there are a bunch of other RUF parts available as well!

Pete,

Don't know if you're soliciting opinions on the look, but.... IMO it looks awful; very "ricer". The only nice thing about it is the "bumperettes" disappear. But you can do that with your front and rear bumpers for a fraction of what the Ruf bumper will cost.

I know that looks are subjective but I'll have to agree with Mike. I'm also a believer that a car's looks has to be backed by its performance which is why I wouldn't dream of putting a TT body on my 993.

Also, I think the other problem that you might have is that you may also have to invest in side skirts and a rear bumper to balance the look. Otherwise, you'll have a car that looks nose heavy.

Lastly, given how far it juts out, you may have to factor in your ride height or put some sort of disposable film on the bottom to take the brunt of the impact.

Thumbs down

Hi Pete,

Can I be completely honest and say that IMHO that looks bloody awful with those big side vents and the snow plough front spoiler. The TT nose with the Turbo S lip spoiler, IMHO, has a much better, balanced look to it. I think that this could seriously affect your resale value as it will put off a lot of people. How big would the spoiler have to be at the back to balnce up this huge thing on the front?!

Just my penny's worth.

Cheers,

David

This front bumber cover/splitter from Ruf, a set of 993RS side skirts and a huge 993 3.8RS rear spoiler, now you are cooking. By the way, my 993 3.8RS spoiler is for sale. <img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Dscf0137reduced.jpg" alt=" - " />

I like the Techart style sides with the Ruf bumpers.

I think it's a bit over the top but to each his own.
