The 8-speed PDK in my 2017 Panamera 4 worked very well.
Glad I got my Carrera T with MT in view of the unconfirmed rumours that post-991, only GT cars will have manual as an option.
Looks like 718s are now PDK only.

Porsche have a problem maintaining that Porsche mystique over all these years. How do you design a car that retains the original 911 shape for the last 50 years with new designs every year. I'm afraid it is running out of ideas and inspiration. It is getting to a point where Porsches are paranoid to deviate from its original 911 shape. Not like Ferraris or Lambos where every model start on a clean sheet of canvas with its unique bold, sexy, sassy, curves and shape that is refreshingly pleasant visually, while Porsche is stuck with its own success. We can't really blame Porsche for trying, and the current 992 is the result. How else can you be creative and refreshingly new after over 50 years of the same classic shape. Just how can you deviate from it and give us a new refreshing look ?

That was 718s as in plural, not the 718S model.
On GB configurator, the 718 and 718 GTS can only now be ordered with PDK transmission.
Oddly, the 718S model is still on configurator and can be specced with a manual gearbox, but from your information, sounds like one could no longer order a 718S Model here.

Hope Porsche would cut down on the hype of more gearing, more speed, more everything. Absolutely 7 speed is more than enough and hopefully Porsche would rather spend the money to beef up on improving the durability of PDK. As it is right now, once your car is out of warranty and the PDK gone south....

2. If you make a car with two transmissions, one with 7 speeds and one with 8, but the final drive of the top gear is the same, you'll get the same mpg cruising in it. And likely if you're shifting manually, you'll get the same mpg too. Having a bunch of gears only increases mpg when you're having a computer grandma-shift into the most efficient gear at every possible second.

Manual 992 mules have been confirmed, in addition to manual transmission press releases. After all the hype of bringing BACK the MT, it would be stupid to kill it now.

But from a styling perspective, it's the exact opposite, with Porsche moving towards Audi. Audi went from curvy beautiful organic designs to boxy, angular buzy ones, just as did VW about a tick before it. Now Porsche seems to be doing the same thing. Losing the simple beauty of their cars' organic shapes for more modern, angular, complicated designs, inside and out. I get the need to modernize the product, but, in this era of clean minimalism in so many areas of design, I find it odd that Porsche is making their design philosophy more square and busy. I'd like to see more Mission E prototype style and less Lambo/Audi like sharpness. But I don't doubt they'll sell every one of the new cars.

That would be between a 10% - 13% bump for the C2S base price depending on whether PDK is included. That's a huge jump. I wonder if there will be price compression between the S and non-S models (ie. the non-S models base price increases at a higher percentage than the S models) in order to incent "S" sales over the base. That's making an assumption that the margins on an "S" are higher than on the base car...

The margin on an S will definitely be higher than on a Carrera. GTS higher margin than S. Turbo higher margin than GTS etc. The base model in a range is usually the best ‘value for money’. And Porsche are masters at marketing to boost their profit per car!
