I'll give you that. The chat there doesn't seem too exciting. Turbo away ...

I have not been in that forum but I doubt that is all they talk about. This sounds like the 981 vs 991 debate by the few non Porschephiles on this forum. All are fantastic cars. Let the egotist run amuk and let the Porsche fanatics enjoy their cars.

Tell them you can buy a TWIN turbo 911 for less than 100k. lol.

I'd be happy with any Porsche including a 914 and I can afford a 918.

I'm just being a jackass. Turbo forum is ok. Traffic is really slow over there, though. Not much action unfortunately.

Back to topic - those Turbo spy photos don't really look like a 992. I'm skeptical.

No worries. I totally agree. Not a 992. Might have a hybrid engine in a 991 Turbo though........

EDIT: I didn't mean to imply that you are being a jackass although that may be the case....but I am applying no judgment. LOL.

The 992 is not on the configurator. Because it doesn't exist yet except as disguised development vehicles.

You are of course correct. They also talk about which exhaust to buy.

I think those Turbo pics are confusing some of you guys. Those pics are a early test mule for the 992 Turbo. the first 992 Carrera test mules from a year ago had fenders like that Turbo. The only info you can get from seeing those fenders is that the 992 Turbo is going to be wider than current one. Here's an earlier version of the 992 Carrera test mule from about a year ago. It was basically just 991 with tacked on fenders. The more current 992 Carrera test mules have fully flared integrated fenders.

Any rumors on the manual transmission? 6 or 7 speed?

I really don't like the 7 speed in the 991.

Hoping the 992 comes with the same 6 speed that the R and GT3 have.....

Wishful thinking?

Fair enough. Two opposing view points though. On the one hand, Porsche has limited Research and Development funds for manual transmissions. They are actually one of the few (if not the only high end sports car company) that is actively doing R&D for manuals. Why waste the 6MT on a few Rs and GT3s?

On the other hand, Porsche developed the 7MT to meet strict emissions and mpg requirements and are tax penalized by average mpg/emissions for their models so they are motivated to keep emissions down and mpg up for the average of their fleet of 911s produced. Therefore, there is motivation to keep the 7MT on their bulk sales for the 911 model (Carreras)

Either way, I hope they improve the tension on their clutch pedal on the 7MT. It feels just flimsy to me.

Edit: And the fricken brake pedal is too high!

Looking at the recent build of 992's I think it's quite likely that those lights and lighting pattern will make to the production vehicles.

Do you like it?
Seems they let go of the four points brake lights on rear.

Hah that wide spoiler and long red line make it look exactly like robocop's helmet. I never thought they'd come up with something even worse than the four point brake lights.

The rear quarters are camo and they are covering part of the lights. I bet the lights wind up looking very similar, if not near identical to the 991.2. I bet that the light bar going across is only on the 4, just like it is now.

I really hope they don't go for the exhausts half up the back of the car, it looks hideous and completely destroys the lines of any car I see it on.
