Default Glove Box

How can i Lock the glove box while leaving the car with Valet ? I keep a gun in the box and do not want any one to have access. The little key on the fob is too difficult to obtain it

I don't think there's any other way than just locking it with the key. alternatives would be carry it with you when you leave the car or don't bring it when you're heading where you need to valet?

Leave it at home if your only option is to leave it unattended. #responsibility

Whenever I take stolen firearm [from motor vehicle] reports - for everything from handguns to rifles - I always find myself SMDH at people who leave their firearms in the car unattended, be it in a lock box or not, while they go into restaurants, Costco, etc.

Yeah - I am guilty. On all my cars. Simply unrealistic to carry everywhere. It has to stay in the car sometimes.

I get it, but with that comes the risk of it getting stolen during a vehicle burglary, but I suppose some are willing to accept that risk. I carry 99.99999% of the time and only run into issues, on occasion, at venues with a strict no-firearm policy even for off duty LEO’s. If I know I’m going to one of those places, I just leave my firearm at home - even though it feels very weird when I don’t have a gun with me - unless the place has a secure lock box area for firearms (..e.g. Disneyland/Downtown Disney, etc.).

I'd rather it risk getting stolen than getting attacked unprepared.

Unprepared? Aren’t you always prepared when you’re carrying a gun?!?! There’s never a time I have a gun in my waistband and I’m not cognizant of it and/or prepared to use it (…and I often grapple in a gun belt or with an appendix holster so that I roll while being aware of where my duty/off duty weapon is at all times). It’s an extension of my self defense ethos.

You can lock the glove box with the Valet key that is in your remote. The little key is too “ difficult to obtain it” . Not sure what that means?

If the key is too difficult to slide out of the remote, try using a quarter instead of your thumbnail.

I hear you and also understand where you're coming from. That said, you have the privilege of carrying where us mere mortals cannot. I have lived the pain of having firearms taken, but I will die on the hill of saying I'm a responsible gun owner. I had a truck that had a center console safe in it that no thief could defeat in a reasonable time period, and I had to store my carry weapon in it due to laws and corporate rules. My safe was locked but it didn't prevent thieves from stealing my whole truck. The irony in this is that I wanted to exercise my right in a bad part of town, however my rights were restricted when entering a building. Because of that, I still feel remorse for putting a weapon on the streets when it didn't need to be there. That said, I leave you with two thoughts -- why should I leave my carry at home when I know I'm going into a bad part of town because of laws that prevent me from taking it into a building, and why does the baby get thrown out with the bathwater when I reasonably restricted access to a weapon however a manufacturer made it too easy to steal a vehicle?

SoulSea knows my drama, saw it on video, and I stand by my convictions. I respect everything you do @M3Inline6 , but I beg you to realize that you have a more relaxed set of requirements on where you can carry and where you cannot as an off-duty.

I’m a born & raised Californian. It’s one of the most restrictive states with regard to concealed carry; heck, we - as a state - don’t even recognize any other state’s CCW’s. I had a CCW long before I worked in law enforcement, and that was way back when it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to have a CCW issued out of L.A. County, etc.; thankfully I lived in a county that issued. My point is most states are less restrictive than California, but I concede your position about me being able to carry in a few more places than a CCW holder despite being restricted at concerts, sports events, etc.

I didn’t mean to paint with a broad brush of irresponsibility, so if it came across that way, I apologize. I was merely saying to be responsible, generally speaking. If you could see how many firearm theft reports [from a motor vehicle] I/we write, you’d shake your head too. I’m not even talking about thieves stealing the car itself, just the firearm(s). I also understand your point on “restricted places”, as California is notorious for making every place a normal person would frequent a restricted location in an effort to restrict 2nd Amendment rights.

Thieves always check a glove box, center console, trunk, etc. when in a hurry, so even secured, it really won’t prevent a theft. There are other places I would recommend (…the same places gang members hide guns; we find new spots all of the time when we rip their cars apart), but not on an open forum.

You can buy a pistol safe for the car and cable tie it to an under seat attachment point. Or this https://www.safeandvaultstore.com/pr...UUsCub9N676Ve8 attaches to your rear seat anchor points.

Any determined thief will get through them but for valet or smash and grab crooks, they should help. My dilemma is I have no where to store my MP5K in our 911s.

False floor in the frunk bro. That’s where I keep a Chalk cerakoted .300 BLK AR pistol with an Alcantara grip and Alcantara handguard. Frank can do anything! lol!
