I have a 2026 GTS and am disappointed with the PDK gearing on upshifts after stopping at an intersection. I am modulating the throttle during the turn and the car shifts to second gear before the car is even straight (18-19 mph) and the shift to third gear takes place at 24-26 mph. This occurs in both Sport and Sport Plus modes. I then accelerate and it downshifts to second where I had really expected it to be at the end of the turn. As a reference, my 2018 GTS would almost never upshift (or downshift) during a turn and did not display these quick upshifts.

The dealer told me that the PDK system will learn my shifting patterns over time (I have only driven 60 miles). An online search confirms a PDK learning function in Normal driving mode but states that Sports and Sports Plus mode are preserved.

Does anyone have insight into this shifting behavior?

 

Reading your post makes me think you’re inquiring about PDK shift strategies rather than gearing.

Even in sport mode, upshifts will be influenced by throttle input. Light throttle = upshift sooner.

 

Pushy pushy loud pedal more in the turn and car will shift later.

 

I guess there are three questions embedded in my post (although maybe not clearly stated): (1) Why does PDK upshift or downshift while the wheels are turned when it doesn't need to based on rpms? (My 2018 GTS never displayed this behavior.), (2) Why is there minimal difference between Sport and Sport Plus modes in the aforementioned scenario?, (3) Will PDK learn and adjust? (in all modes or only Normal mode?)

That's why I like the 992.1 Manual S; it allows total control even under light loads to hear the great sounds of the engine and tranny's subtle hint of a whine (only can hear this under light loading). The sound inside is fantastic. Brings up a question though, when I was testing a 2024 GTS pdk (2wd Cab), the engine was louder than our S 2wd coupe, but the GTS PDK was completely silent.

The car is like a Stradivarius. Can be played gently, medium, and hard (loud).
