Default Porsche Noob Performance Questions

Yes, Steve, I Googled all these questions with "Rennlist" and still have questions...............

Got my '26 C2S a week ago, and am planning some upgrades. From what I hear, the factory cats restrict air flow measurably, and some exhaust mods can help that and the sound.

Fact 1: For $795 I can get the Fabspeed Sport Cats: https://www.kiesmotorsports.com/prod...e-outlets-2025

Fact 2: For $795 I can get the DO88 intake system: https://www.do88performance.com/en/a...mm-airbox.html

Fact 3: For $4,855 I can get the Soul Sport Cats: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/por9922scc.html

Question #1: Why the price difference between the Fabspeed Sport Cats vs the Soul Cats?

Question #2: Would I get better performance for $1,600 installing both the Fabspeed Sport Cats AND the Do88 intake pipes, or spending near $5K on the Soul Cats?

TIA!

The pricing you are seeing is for the outlets, not the cats themselves (…which cost thousands). The Fabspeed cats are modular.

Expect to spend +/- $4k for a set of cats from a reputable source that uses GESI or HJS cores (…with either ceramic or metallic substrate; the latter more robust).

If would recommend going to each vendor’s website for a better understanding of the set of possible upgrades across the entire exhaust system.
After you decide which parts you want to upgrade, then you can see if there are pricing differences at retail.

Soul Performance:
https://soulpp.com/product-category/...2-911-carrera/

Fabspeed:
https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche/911-carrera/992-2-2025/

Upgrades appear to be available for:
— headers (exhaust from engine going into the turbos)
— catalytic converters (replacing 700 cell with something smaller, like 300 cell)
— x-pipe/muffler section
— everything together; a multi-part upgrade

You’re a week into ownership. What’s the rush?
Rack up some miles first and then decide what you want to do. These cars really open up with the miles — get both louder and faster.

Untrue. If you want more sound just get a valve controller. Cats will open things up in terms of sound, but negligible from a power perspective. DO88 inlets are also negligible, perhaps slightly quicker spool (I did all those mods - been there done that)

To make real power just get a reputable tune from M/Softronic/Cobb/APR.

My strong recommendation: don’t do anything the first year. Just drive and enjoy.

Sounds like you bought the wrong car.

I know you didn't ask, but I also think you should give it some time and become more acquainted with the car before dropping another $10K for parts and labor to "improve" it.

Unless you're completely ignoring any kind of reasonable break-in procedure, after one week you really have no idea what performance is like, so why are you concerned about "more"?

Just give yourself a chance to enjoy it first.

When you say "Got my '26 C2S a week ago"...did you take delivery or just placed an order?

You have 500hp and have owned the car one week....and it's probably not broken in yet...How much HP do you need and what's your rush?
  1. High flow Cats alone are not going to provide a huge increase in HP
  2. DO88 pipes also do not provide a huge increase in HP
  3. The $795 price question in your post is for GT2RS tips alone.... not inclusive of Sport Cats
I would drive it and get used to the car plus do some research before spending any additional money for more speed and more sound.

The consensus is that Sport Cats alone are not going to make a huge difference in sound...you still have a factory muffler and factory-controlled valves ...replacement of the main muffler system and or independent valve control will usually increase volume.

Good advice here OP. I am coming up to a year with my .2CS and have a KIES valve controller on order. I would go with this before Sport Cats but yes, if you eventually decide to go that route they are a good value add on this platform for sound (some power). Personally, I lean towards Soul in that regard.

Drive first. Mod (if necessary) second.

I installed the Soul sport cats on mine a little over a week ago and am happy with the sound. As others have said, give it some time with the car before you decide to make changes. I waited four months and am glad I did so I could really nail down what I wanted.

Save your money on the mods for now and instead go to one of the Porsche Experience Centers and take a few courses with an experienced driving instructor. You will very quickly learn you will not be able to drive your car to one half it’s FULL potential. It’s a real eye opener. I learned allot on how to drive my car to its potential. Believe me it’s well worth it.

+1. Welcome to Rennlist (not a compliment).
