Default PORSCHE Connect Subscriptions

I just came across this, but others may already know this. Hopefully this may help others who were not aware.

In the latest My PORSCHE app for iOS (version 18.0 and beyond), I went into the Profile tab (bottom right silhouette), and then tapped on Contracts.

For the visible PORSCHE (assuming you have more than one), you'll see what the end dates are for both PORSCHE Connect Care and PORSCHE Connect. Really helpful to know when I'll need to begin paying for the service once it expires.

- PORSCHE Connect Care is an interesting one that include proactive maintenance (Smart Service), roadside assistance (Breakdown Call), over-the-air updates for software and maps, and digital access to owner manuals within the App. I guess once the 10 year period is up, you don't get access to these items unless you sign up for their yearly subscription.

- PORSCHE Connect is for using the mobile app to connect to your PORSCHE for tracking and remotely lock/unlock. This looks to be included for 3 years, and then you have to sign up for their yearly subscription.

Note 1: If you have purchase an extended warranty, it does not include extending the PORSCHE Connect for that same duration.

Note 2: If you have saved any search criteria in the PORSCHE Finder web site, then you will find those same queries in the Saved Search under the same Profile tab. From there you can tap on Show Results, it will show you the results of your saved search query. Pretty nice feature.

I have a 2025 Macan 4 EV and a 2026 911 Targa 4S - both have an included Porsche Connect plan of 10 years. 10 years is a nice duration.

10 years free is great. My Porsche Connect free 3 years ends this August, while it's convenient and a nice to have, it's really not worth paying any amount for IMO.

I agree for any ICE Porsche - for the EV models you really must have a Porsche Connect contract or you would lose valuable / necessary information as well as charging functionality. It's hard to appreciate this if you don't have an EV but 24 hours into EV ownership it becomes clear.

Interesting:

With my 2026 911 Targa 4 GTS, I have a contract for “Porsche Connect” and “Verizon Data Pass”, but no contact for “Porsche Connect Care”.

That is interesting. What I see is this (both mine are 992.1).

3 years for PORSCHE Connect
10 years for PORSCHE Connect Care

No Verizon Data item.

I thought it was petty AF that when Porsche Connect ended after three years, Porsche’s navigation reverts to an archaic, dot-matrix level of quality.

I'm not sure I'd characterize it as free as I'm sure it's baked into the price of the car...

See what’s included in Data Pass by clicking on the name. May be it is similar to what is offered in Porsche Connect Care (but with a different name, to avoid confusion with the 3 year Porsche Connect)?

Never used it.
Never missed it.
Wouldn't ever pay for it.

Default squandering goodwill

Welp, my three years are up. Here the subscription is $21/month (w/ tax), or $250/year, or $2500/decade. No doubt some manager at PCNA is measured on extracting maximum revenue from this program. It will be more difficult for Porsche to measure and discern the loss of customer goodwill from recurring monthly Connect subscription charges on our credit card bills, just to preserve our car's relatively basic connected car services.

If I click on either Porsche Connect OR Data Pass, I get the same following screen:
