There's been a lot of debate on the performance differences between the 992.1 vs. 992.2. I'm curious to know what people think on the aesthetic differences on the rear.
The .1 rear is too bulbous for me with too much blank space. The SD package helps the look of it but still doesn't look quite right to me.
The .2 rear is more sculpted and looks way better.
All Porsche essentially did for the .2 was make the bumpers more or less .1 Sport Design bumpers, which I think was a good move.
I prefer the .1 Sport Design rear as well as the .1 taillights, but the .2 front bumpers are more GT like, thus, more preferable to me. I really like the .2 GTS front bumper.
O.P., in order to make this a complete comparison, you need to add the other optional .1 rear bumper.

Prefer .2 standard rear bumper styling. Do not like .2 GTS rear bumper styling
I really don't like how US license plates dip below the painted area in the .2. Very much an afterthought.
I think it was done purposely, not as an afterthought.
In order to help clean up aero at the rear, the two engine bay heat exhaust vents were moved from their position at the corners of the rear valence to a single vent at the center hidden just beneath the rear bumper. Since that's the area where the license plate was before, the mounting area for the plate had to be relocated.
With fewer "busy" slats in the intake grill, relocating and hiding the heat extraction vents, the elimination of the painted "notch" above the model designation and the way the exhaust tips are integrated into the lower valence just results in an overall cleaner, more cohesive look, IMHO. Not that the rear of the .1 looks bad by any stretch of the imagination, I just prefer the .2. Of course, I would say that since I own one.

It looks better with euro plates since it fits within the painted area. I feel like they could have easily lowered the painted area by a centimeter and raise the top indentation by another centimeter all without changing any structural/mechanical underneath the bumper cover.
EDIT: Just realized .2 sport design pack in exterior color solves my issue -- it brings the painted surfaces lower
.1 tail lights appear to be higher quality with the clear lens all the way around whereas the .2 has tried to give it more style but did so by adding a cheap looking strip of plastic that breaks up the flow.
.1 non-Sport Design was always a bit too bulbous to me. .2 is pretty much .1 Sport Design but makes you get Sport Design if you don't want a plain black license plate bracket.
So to me, its: .1 Sport Design > .2 Sport Design > .2 standard > .1 standard
I’ve come to like the .2 front better, even though I didn’t like it when it was released. The .2 rear is. It for me. I don’t like the shelf and I feel like it looks like the face of zurg from Toy Story
