Default Valve controller works on 992.2 GTS

Just would like to make a thread since earlier ones were just speculation: valve controllers work on the 992.2 GTS.

The valve controller you need will be the GT3/GT3RS connector. The non GT valve controllers have a single pin difference of 4 vs 5.

Early “reports” suggested that it would not produce an increase of sound and I can happily report that this is incorrect.
The sound with the valves full open is excellent. Nearly transformative in how I now perceive this exhaust system. I was smiles all the way home from a drive. There is an increase in volume without a drone. The volume increase isn’t so dramatic so much as the fact that now you can hear it the entire rev range and not just higher up. City driving is now fun.

Things to note: the valve actuators are now located above the heat shielding, a big change from the .1s
This makes it only accessible with the bumper cover off, which itself needs the aero and lenses out.

I used SST brand controller. I’m sure any 992 GT3/RS controller would work.

Obviously I can’t just post this without a sound clip, so I’ll come back this Saturday and upload one when I’m free to do so.

I am posting this for anyone with a 992.2 GTS thinking about a valve controller - They work.

sorry apparently the message didn’t actually post.

I ordered the 992.2 GTS variant and it came with a 4 pin connector. Do we need a 5 pin connection?

Two questions:
1. Did you take any pictures showing the connection point with the bumper off, where did you attach the controller itself? how did you route the cable?
2. Can you confirm the sound is louder when the valve controller is on in Sport/Sport+ vs PSE on while the valve controller is disabled?

A few people claim that the 992.2 GTS completely open the valve while in sport and sport+. That is, the valve position no longer varies with depending on RPM. If what they say is true, then the valve controller is only useful in cold starts or when you want the valve open outside of Sport/Sport+. You seem to disagree with them. Is this correct?
Looking forward for your sound clip.

On the 992.1 it's such an easy install and makes a huge difference

Sorry to revive an old thread. Is anybody able to answer this? I have ordered the Downpipe from the awesome guys at Soul and I'm trying to determine whether or not it makes sense to do a valve controller as well for enhanced sound below 4000 RPM. I also want to try to determine if I am adding any risk of CELs on cold starts with valves open, etc..

While we aren't manufacturing valve controllers ourselves and would leave this to the pros like Kies, we can confirm that even in Sport/Sport Plus modes these factory valves are Not staying open all the time when driving. It is also clear that the two different valves are operating on individual strategies not together at the same time. They also don't open immediately, but progressively over a period of time/rpm. This also occurs on deceleration closing the valves until you come nearly to a stop. The valve controllers overriding these valve strategies would net a notable overall sound level increase on accel/decel when the valves would normally be closed. This Euro sound restriction programming is present on all 992 models.

This is correct.

The valve controller makes the biggest difference 4K RPM and below as that’s where the valves are nearly shut in any mode. Essentially it would only open at “highway speeds” and even still it’s not great.

For those wondering: it makes an even larger difference with a downpipe. A pretty cool old school sound profile. I’m reminded of 90s cars.

Hi, are someone thinking about the way to force the valve on short path more open?
The main one including CAT + GPF then splitted to long and short path, short one direct blow out without drum so I think the sound from that will more raw and lounder, but I dont know why that valve of short path almost alway close even on Sport/Sport+ mode.
