.2 Touring: classy or racey?
I'm in line for and close to an allocation for a .2 Touring.
I was pretty set on black/black until a recent convo with my SA. Looks like I may get PTS and I'm keeping an open mind. Two tracks I'm currently considering: 1. a darker, possibly metallic shade with the aluminum window trim 2. a skittles shade with black trim Regardless of the above, the car will be manual + Leichtbau. PTS would be under Sonder and I like black interiors so may go with that and focus more on exterior. |
If I was building a touring right now I'd basically be replicating your avatar car. Auratium Green, Silver wheels, brown interior.

First off, congrats on the allocation! That will be a great car. My opinion is stay classy on the touring. It is the more subtle, understated sibling whereas the winged twin is loud and racey. The color can be light but should not be loud. I would choose something darker, rich metallic with aluminum trim.
Something lighter that isn't loud, like crystal green metallic could work. So many choice would be hard to pick one. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ab576fd175.jpg |

Would look good on the touring too, thanks.

I love black because it's both elegant and imposing at the same time. A timeless color. But I already have a black 992 that I'm not selling. Thinking of going with PTS+ with a metallic shade that changes color with light that I won't disclose now, but it would be an obvious choice on a touring. Of all the S/Ts I've seen the coolest ones are the skittles color ones with black trim. I think it's because it's unexpected, which I really like. Interestingly, one of the colors I've been drawn to in the past is Fish Silver Gray Metallic like the 70th anni Australia edition. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...11e88738aa.jpg |
So many ways you could go with this and none of them bad. I love the skittles colors and see them as a better fit on the sporty, racey, playful models like T, GTS, GT with wing, etc. The richer, less shouty (but not necessarily quiet) colors seem to fit the more serious cars like a Turbo, Touring, Sport Classic, maybe S, etc. Really depends on your perspective of the car's personality and your intended use case. Funny how Porsche has sliced the 911 pie so many ways and how color and options can really change the view of the car.
I'd be tempted by a rich dark metallic green, blue or maybe a purple. Something that looks black in the shade but under some light would really pop with depth. Or go the other way with a skittles Signal Yellow or Gulf Orange for fun! That Fish Silver is classic but does it stand out? |
A dark metallic color with silver window trim is exactly the direction I would go. My personal choice would be Amethyst Metallic but really works with any hue.

I would be torn if 1) I actually received an allocation, and 2) even more of a conundrum if it were a PTS choice.
I really like Yachting Blue but also a fan of a darker metallic green. Regardless, I hope it all comes to fruition for you. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...7f94a8235.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...b8b47fd39.jpeg Not my pic |
I've spent many hours agonizing over color. In the end I went with the color that came up first in my head. Go with your gut.
Seeing as I haven't seen the car yet, I could be totally wrong. Have fun. |

There are a lot of dark 992's out there in black, grey, and darker shades. I think since you are getting a very special rare ST, I would get something in the skittles PTS to make it that much more rare, unique and special. You don't want to be every colour like other touring. I like the idea of something in the signal yellow/orange spectrum of colours with dark interior combo....I think will look really good and rare.

Arena Red Metallic
Amethyst Metallic Yachting Blue Metallic All of the above with silver window trim would be my picks. I also like Fish Silver Gray Metallic but it's too close to GT Silver and not enough variation for me to justify the money on PTS. Either way you go, I would match the wheels with the silver trim. |
I'd seriously consider the new colors SeanPeach or Audrain Green

Looks like you can't get silver trim with PTS on a T but I could be mistaken. Tried to configure this Porsche Racing Green T with it and wasn't a choice. https://porsche-code.com/PTV29DH0

@tourenwagen , I like that Sean Peach.

Here's what I would get:
1) If I ever had enough money to blow on a GT3 Touring (including the crazy ADM) 2) could ever get an allocation in the first place 3) could get a PTS color https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cd535a21e0.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9417e5fe1b.jpg |
