Default Remove hood elblem

So I stupided... Replaced the hood emblem with the turbonite version and now have decided I want to go back. Problem is I overtightened to rubber nuts and now they're basically stripped and won't come down the shafts.

Any suggestions to get them out?

Have you tried thin needle nose pliers?

Haven't yet because of the size of the two openings but will give it a shot. Thanks!

Try alternate unscrewing the nuts while pulling up carefully on the crest with your hand (or a plastic paint scraper to lift it up). Since they are stripped you should be able to use leverage to coax them down the pin as the crest is pulled up from the hood. A lubricant may help if there is friction keeping them in place.

I'll give that a try. Also per my inner 12 year... You said lubricant.

This! Pulling up on the crest as you loosen the nuts will do the trick.

Reviving this thread. Trying to swap to the Turbonite emblem and cannot get those nuts to come down the shaft. Have tried using fishing line underneath to create upward pressure. Trying to pull up with fingernails, but not working. It's so tight I'm having trouble getting any kind of trim tool between the emblem and the hood.

For clarity, I am also trying to use a 8mm socket at the same time as applying outward pressure.

Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks,

JB

The only way to do it is to pull up hard while using the 8mm to loosen the nut.

Use painters tape to protect the area.

In my case I had a hood emblem rip from its posts, so I epoxied small nuts onto the posts in order to unscrew them.

I used a pair of hemostats along with a pair of tweezers that I got at Harbour Freight…I changed my original and replaced it with the Turbonite…my T is GT Silver with Agate grey accents so the Turbonite works!!!!
My problem is that when I loosened the original nuts they would only come halfway off…stuck by the rubber adhesive….

So prying just isn't working. I was able to wedge a plastic putty knife under the emblem, but the nuts just do NOT come down the posts. So, I'm going to have to explore some other options. Thanks for the help all.

For some unforeseen reason, it seems you are going to have the pull the crest off...the hell with the nuts. Trust me, it will come off.
