Ok after months of waiting and dreaming about this car: I finally got it today. 992.2 Carrera S in shade green metallic, blue interior with chalk leather, Burmester, premium pk, sports chrono, rear wheel steering, and other minor options. After 40 miles I can say that I LOVE IT! The exhaust & engine sound is quite loud at start up and when revving but it quiets down considerably at speed. The ride is more comfortable than previous 911s Ive driven. Pleasantly surprised. The Burmester is great, but not as good as the Burmester in my Cayenne Turbo. Still happy that I got that option. Super solid build quality, which Im used to from Porsche. It feels like it was carved out of one solid rock. It is deceptively fast, as it isnt moving as much mass as my Cayenne Turbo or Mercedes EQS. It doesnt feel as fast but when you look down youre already 20mph above the speed limit. I thought Id want more torque but this car is wicked fast. Keeping it under 4,000rmps in rainy wet conditions Im still leaving other cars in the rear view mirror quickly. Any faster Ill end up in jail.
Looks really good. I also specked the silver window trim, not many folks get it but I think it really show cases the the 911 body especially on light colors like yours. My 992.1s is White. Congrats!
Have ordered an S for July production but only test drove the base model. I thought the base was plenty fast already, could you further share your driving experience for the S?

I too have only driven base 911s, so the S is a welcome surprise. Compared to the 3 different base 911s I've driven (991.1, 991.2, and 992.1) the 992.2 Carrera S has a noticeably softer/more damped ride, it's still firm, but more its forgiving, not as raw as the base and not harsh like in my previous E93 M3, or X5M. The S also has a more significant kick of torque/power when revving above 2500rmps. Below that it's pretty similar, but lean into it and it becomes more than fast enough for the street The steering also seems much improved, and the rear wheel steering provides tight and immediate turning. All of the changes were incremental, but noticeable improvements, and I can justify spending more for an S, and would do it again. It's a great quality car, and I'm quite pleased, I think you will be as well. Only thing I'd do differently is skip the rear windshield wiper.
thanks for this informative reply. last question, are the cracks and burples completely eliminated...I have read its still there but only in sports mode. The turbo blow offs are also more pronounced accordingly online sources...please enlighten!
I had a 2024 Targa 4S for a month last year and my 2025 C2S is arriving at the dealer any day now. So I'll be able to do a comparison of those two soon. I'm curious to see how noticeable the new engine mods will be. Last year's car was plenty fast, but I could feel the weight and wanted it to feel lighter on it's feet so opted for the coupe and 2wd. I also test drove a Carrera T so will have that to compare to.

Yes, the cracks and pops and burps have been eliminated, haven't heard any. That being said, I haven't actually turned on the sport exhaust yet in my daily drives.

Yeah on the 992.1, by default the cracks and burbles are only really heard in 'Sport' mode, and they aren't super aggressive either, the BMW Z4 M40i for example is much more aggressive. I assume it is similar on the 992.2. The turbo waste gate blow-off chirp can get pretty pronounced in the 992.1 base Carrera if you rev it to the right rpm and then let off the throttle. The little chirping noises are exhilarating and you can make the car really sing. I will be doing a road trip in a 2025 992.2 base Carrera Cab in a few weeks, I will take note of how it sounds compared to the old 992.1 base Carrera.
