Front creaking sound
I am happy to say they have traced and fixed the problem!! Full credit and thanks to the Assistant Service Manager (Albert), and the Porsche Tech (Nick). Both were quite switched on in helping to solve the issue.
It was fortunate that I could recreate the noise with Nick in the car on a test drive, so they had a good idea of the problem. Luckily it was not a serious problem.
The CAUSE – found that the fixing bolts for the dashboard (on both the interior side and the firewall side) were not tightened to the factory recommended torque, thus allowing slight dashboard movement when the car body twisted going over the driveway lip. The bolts were not loose, just not tightened appropriately, so allowing minimal movement … but enough to cause a loud creaking noise.
The SOLUTION – Nick loosened the bolts off on both sides of the dashboard then simply retightened each one to the correct torque.
The creak has gone, at least so far!! I’ve tried to reproduce the noise several times since arriving home, and I can’t. So hopefully the issue is resolved. Happy with fingers crossed!
This solution may help others experiencing this noise. It seems to be an assembly line issue on installation of the dashboard and was covered by warranty. I have a sneaking suspicion that this very helpful dealership has encountered this before.
PS – my loaner was a Porsche EV, a ’25 Macan 4S. I was quite impressed with this car but sadly Porsche has dropped the ball by down grading the build quality of the interior with lots of plastic, insufficient leather trim and cheap looking switches and dials, when compared to my ICE ’21 Macan GTS.
