Default 992.1 speedometer display question

hi guys,

maybe i am missing something obvious, but i cant find a setting to show the whole speedometer needle …i am pretty sure there is one because I have seen pics of other cars with it.

My car only has 2 settings for that display… as shown with the center blacked out, and nav. Instructions.

also, i cant find (the supposed) setting to turn off the two outer most displays…

i have searched thru all the menu’s but maybe i am missing something …. ???

my car is a 2021 targa 4s.

I think you might have a bad screen actually. This is a pic of my 992.1 Targa (2024) and I have had a 2022 Targa and a 2020 C4S - all had the same long needle (now this 2024 pic has the heritage interior, so I have a green background) but my others looked just like this, minus the heritage look in this pic.

Time to go to the dealer and see if you have a display problem.

I'm pretty sure it's a post-2021 model thing. Before 2022, the minimal instrument option wasn't available. I'm presuming the needle is also redesigned in 2022.

I think you’re right. I vaguely remember a post about MY update where the needle became a full needle.

I don't think that display is operating correctly. I would take it to the dealer.

Thanks Guys!

@Richard_Wallace The Heritage set up is GREAT looking! I am considering doing a similar set from GaugeFaces.com. Do you have a pic of your Sport Chrono clock? I need to go to the 992 coding thread and see if there is a way to change the backlighting on the numbers from white to green.

@woobiee You are probably right. My speedo center does 'work' (see new images). I just dont have the full needle. I may have to do the unthinkable and actually look at my 2021 owner manual

Couldn’t it be changed with an update via PIWIS?

All correct behaviour. The 'full' needle and reduced display (only 3 dials) came with a newer PCM h/w revision from '22 onwards.

I have a MY23. Toggle to Speedo , use the left scroll and scroll to the one without location information. The full needle will appear.

Yours works because it's an MY23 model, the OP has a '21 model. That has an older PCM HW/SW platform and won't show (it wasn't designed to) the full needle. No amount of button pressing changes that!
