Default No Drill License Plate

I installed today my no drill front license plate holder on my new to me 2020 992.1 C2S. The holder was purchased from @Carbonio and arrived on time, was very well packaged with installation instructions and links to YT videos.
This is not a paid promotion and I purchased this from the seller.

I genuinely don't want to quibble ... is it on straight?

That was the first thing I noticed.

I have a stick and have the Carbonio that attaches up to the holes in the plastic sheaf underneath the car. This sheaf is somewhat flexible and as a result the Carbonio holder with the plate attached is not as solid as I would have liked and is not always straight as seen above.

The Carbonio unit is very well made but unfortunately it attaches to a somewhat flexible sheaf.

All in all, I am satisfied as it can be removed and put back on very easily.

I have a love hate thing for a policy here in Nebraska. For $50 per year you can have a single plate with a small windshield sticker showing you only need one plate. There's no qualifying. Walk into DMV, hand over $50, one plate and a sticker.

Love - because I only want one plate and I'm fortunate enough that $50 a year is nothing I care about

Hate - the State hypocrisy. We have two plates because, were told, the police need to be able to identify us. Unless you have a spare $50 in which case you must be a law abiding citizen because you have $50.

Worse, State law is license plates must be redesigned every six years. So every six years everyone throws out their basically indestructible license plate x 2 except the people with $50 who only throw out one.

Rant over.

Thank you for sharing and the timely post. I have been looking into what options exist for a no-drill front license plate solution and had considered starting a thread yesterday, so this is great.

Is the flex causing the plate to be not parallel to the ground consistent? If so, can you make adjustments to the Carbonio bracket to correct for the slant?

In California we are required to have a front license plate. I have received tickets from meter maids when it's not on the car, so I need a solution that can easily be installed onto the car when needed. I need to pick something that is installed prior to the the PPF when my car arrives from Germany, if it requires a taped on solution, as that won't work over a PPF. I am not a fan of the tow-hook solutions as it's risk to the frame if there is an impact to the rod threaded into the tow hook.

Are there other solutions that exist?

Thanks

I live in California and have never put a front license plates on any vehicle I've owned for the last 30+ years. Not sure where in CA you live but I have never been approached or ticketed for the lack of a front plate. I have had probably 5 tickets in that same time period with a license plate infraction.

I drove into downtown Palo Alto last week and I'd estimate that 10% of the CA cars parked on University Avenue and Emerson Street didn't have a front plate.

Try parking your car in San Francisco, or driving down a major street. 😄

San Francisco has nonsensical policing priorities. Instead of cutting cops on the beat, they should cut meter maids.

Actually I avoid SF at all costs but I will say I have driven all over the Bay Area and have never been tagged. Of course now that I just posted this I will get ticketed.

Has anyone attached the Carbonio on a 992.2 with ACC? The website says not for a vehicle with ACC.

There are two versions on their website. One version is ~$280 and attaches under the front bumper on the bottom of the car, and blocks the ACC. The other version ~$180 uses 3M tape to attach above the ACC, as shown at the top of the thread.

From what I can tell the 3M taped version like the top image in the thread should work with the 992.2 I have not yet received, that has a parking camera. I do not have ACC, but cannot use the more expensive version as it interferes with the aero kit front lip.

Thanks all for pointing out the anomaly. Indeed this is the version that attaches to the underside of the bumper as I have an ACC sensor. I have installed the holder and will now attempt to correct the minor tilt though i am not unduly impacted by this as it is performing its intended function😁 thankfully do not have OCD so blessed.I understand once installed there is no facility to make adjustments as the 3M tape attaches firmly to the bumper. The holder itself allows for minor adjustments for tilt and rake and that is what I will attempt and report.

What aero kit front lip do you have? The “expensive version” Carbonio works well on mine —no ACC, no complaints:
