Thoughts on a few options from long-term comparisons
Last year I custom ordered a 992 C4S and like many of you, I went through countless posts here to decide on options, and in the end went with a pretty minimal build (sports package + surround view + LCA + a few smaller things). Later I got a (relatively) loaded Taycan 4S CT from the dealer lot as my daily driver to complement the 992. I love both cars and they serve their respective purposes perfectly. I'm not here to compare the cars themselves but driving both for an extended period of time led me to evaluate several options that I previously debated on, so I thought I'd share my experiences. All personal opinions obviously.
Regrets
Bottom line
Don't get me wrong though - at the end of the day, these are magnificent cars, even a base car with 0 option will put a smile on you. But if you are debating on options, a post I saw earlier was spot on (to paraphrase): if you get an option but don't like it, just don't use it - the same can't be said for the opposite. Especially if you are already shelling out this much.
Hope this helps anyone still changing their mind 5 times a day
Regrets
- Seats (4-way base on C4S vs 14-way on CT): in terms of comfort level, not a huge difference during short drives but I definitely appreciate the adjustability on longer trips. I regret not having memory seat on the C4S though, and without it you lose the right mirror to auto tilt-down on reverse.
- Speakers: (base on C4S vs Bose on CT): Bose is slightly less terrible but both are pretty bad and worse than the harman kardon on my old BMW. I rarely listen to anything in the C4S due to the nice engine sound, but if you care about sound quality definitely get the Burmester
- RAS (no on C4S, yes on CT): must-have on the Taycan due to how big it is, otherwise it will be awkward maneuvering in tight spaces. On the 992 I don't regret not having it but would be a plus for sure
- PDCC (no on C4S, yes on CT): similar to RAS, kinda must-have on the CT and would be a nice addition on the C4S. Really made the car flat on corners
- FAL (no on C4S vs yes on CT from the air suspension): must-have on the 992 especially with the -10mm SPASM. Without it I'm a bit limited on where I can drive to and always had to approach at weird angles. Yes the front lip is cheap but it's nice to have a peace of mind
- Ambient light (no on C4S vs yes on CT): I'm surprised how significantly this cheap-ish option improves the night driving experience, must-have
- Headlights (base PDLS on C4S vs Matrix on CT): no difference that I can tell but I don't have the Matrix enabled
- ACC (no on C4S vs yes on CT): rarely used, would prefer driving myself even on longer trips
- Ventilated seats (no on C4S vs yes on CT): a bit weak even on the highest setting, meh

I agree with you. I didn't even get PSE on my 992.1. I did add a few interior "dress up" options however because I felt that anything you see or touch as part of driving the car, benefits from an upgrade.
I've had both 14 and 18 way seats. Big fan of 18s but that's a personal preference thing.
Seat ventilation better than nothing but not that great. Interestingly, I had a '16 Boxster GTS I ordered that the vent seats were COLD. As in they actually felt chilly on full blast. The other 4 P cars I've had with them are no comparison. Not sure what happened there but I wish I could have moved those seats into every new car.
Had RAS on a '17 Targa 4S and not sure I ever noticed it. My crew cab 6.5' bed Tundra could certainly use that (unavailable) option!
Had the Burmester on a '15 TT. Great when parked - of little value to me with road noise so I only get the BOSE now.
No experience with PDCC or FAL but haven't lost a chin spoiler since I took a hard uphill turn in the '16 BGTS.
Every time I used sport exhaust my wife asked me to turn it off so I skip that now as well.

RAS is amazing for u turns and tight corners in the 911, highly recommend.
Power Steering plus is a cheap option and wouldn’t option one without it, U turns and low speed maneuvers are effortless.
FAL, such a game changer in any low clearance vehicle. Great for extra tall speed bumps and steep driveways/ entrances.
Burmester vs Bose is a never ending debate, as someone who can’t drive without music, I often find myself listening to music on low volume and prefer to hear the engine more. Sound quality the Burmester is definitely noticeable, but isn’t going to make you have regrets either choice.
Seats should be your own choice. Everyone has their own preference and nobody on the internet will tell you what’s right for you. You should sit in a few if you can. As someone with a larger build though, my 18 ways are more than comfortable.
Ventilated seats are a welcome comfort on hot days, mine keep me comfortable enough not have a sweaty back but in no way are they “super cold”.
PDCC, I don’t find myself turning this option on very often, as the ride is a less comfy but not uncomfortable. As OP says, keeps you flat and planted. Great for the twisties.

I'm of the mindset that a $150k car should NOT have the base stereo system, no matter how poor people think Bose is (it's more than adequate IMO and checking that Prem Package box was a no brainer for me). I had the 14 way seats in my previous 992 and the 18 ways in my current, definitely prefer the 18 ways.
But alas, that's why Porsche allows everyone to option the cars the way they want and what's important to them.

I've had a 2020 C2 and now a 2023 C2 and they have different things as I did not order but grabbed off the lot, there was a 991S and a 991Turbo mixed in as well
-2020 no ACC / 2023 ACC - Found I actually enjoy it going back and forth to Dallas on I-30 I would get again
-14 ways in both. Plenty comfortable. I did enjoy the 18 ways at Barbers. Seats are like underwear. Can't really help you pick yours out.
-2020 base interior / 2023 leather w/deviated stitching - really like 2023 interior would get again
-Bose in both, put Musical stage 3 in 2023 would do that again
-PDCC in my 991 turbo, don't miss it in the 992
-Seat ventilation must have in Texas
-PSE, would probably eliminate since I swap cats and exhaust anyway
-Sunroof would eliminate if I built either car
-Wish I had FAL, my drive way sucks

@3520MMF that's good to know! I looked into the settings and the manual, as well a bunch of posts here, and there are no option to enable the tilt down. Glad this is available on the .2. However even with the tilt down enabled, the degree of the tilt is still fairly limited and not as useful as other cars I've had.
Try this …Put the vehicle in reverse while holding the brake. Adjust the right mirror adjustment to where you want it to be oriented when in reverse.. When you take it out of reverse it should go back to normal driving orientation. Once placed back in reverse your pre-saved orientation will be displayed again. You can make the degree of tilt whatever you choose

@3520MMF on the Taycan I was able to adjust the mirror tilt position when in R, which was successfully saved. However I am not able to get the mirror to automatically go back when I shift out of R, I had to press the driver side mirror button again for it to go back.
Might be just an issue with the Taycan or my particular car, but this is already much better for reversing.
