Would you buy one?
Talked with a dealer today that has a 2024 C2S for sale...asked a few questions about. He sent me the build sheet. Then I asked for a few pictures of it and it was at that point that he said the car isn't ready yet. I asked why and he said that "they are waiting for some parts." I asked what parts and he said porsche is replacing the transmission on it...after less than 1k miles! Would you buy this car? Will that show up on carfax? Just curious how it will effect the value of it. Oh and they have it priced $10k above msrp.

For this car, if you are truly interested...You may, for curiosity's sake find out the exact circumstances of the transmission failure. PDK failure is not unheard of and since the dealers do not fix these...having it replaced with a unit from Porsche is the only way to get the car up and running. The dealers pull the bad one and replace it with a new one from Germany.
It would be nice to know if it was an inferior part failure or initial assembly issue at the factory or even if the previous owner caused the failure. But whatever the reason, it doesn't really matter since the car will have a new PDK with a warranty.
I'm assuming this will be sold as a CPO...so it will have a warranty until 2030.
Let's look at the possible numbers... a 2024 MSRP "S" was $131K without options...so let's say all in had a sticker price of $155K with options. If this CPO is now $165K... that is very close to the Retail Blackbook value (most Porsche dealers use Blackbook as a guide for trade-in and resale values) of an "Average" condition "S".
If you do a search on Porsche Finder, you will see that 2024 "S" models have these types of values...give or take $5-10K.
Do you think a possible $165K 2024 "S" with 1000 miles is worth it, if you didn't know about the PDK? It may very well be a good deal. But...if the number is over my guesstimate $165K...there may be other options available that have less drama and history.
Here is a snapshot of the 2024 "S" Trade-in and Retail values...

I believe there is a chance it could show up on carfax, so it’ll be something you may have to explain down the road. But the if dealer is doing it with new parts and (assuming) it is then CPO’d, so your risk is low. If it is your perfect spec otherwise, go for it. But it does seem that you can use this + the fact that January is usually a slow month for dealers to negotiate closer to MSRP.
My 997.2 GTS Coupe had it’s PDK transmission replaced at 200 miles due to a leak. I posted the details here on RL. I sold it a year later and received the same amount as a no issues car. The purchaser new about the transmission issue from day one.
That's interesting! Thanks! If you don't mind my asking, why did you sell it?
