Sorry this happened to you.

Same thing happened to me several years ago.

Guy sideswipes me at an intersection. I wave for the guy to pull over and he feigns agreement.

When I slow down pull to the side, the **** drives off like the ***** he is. Fortunately, I was in my GT3 () and chased him all the way to his home.

Got him to exchange insurance info, took pictures, and submitted the claim.

Lo and behold, the guy's insurance company denies the claim and says he was never in such an incident.

i serve the guy with a small claims court action and basically say, "you, ****, if none of this happened, then why do I have pictures of your drivers license, insurance information taken on the same day of pictures of my car with damage to the side mirrors, door panel and wheel arch?"

Got a fully judgment for the damage.

****

Good to have a dash cam, but better to avoid these type of situations. I'm sure the OP knows that now.

Wife's law firm had a client who was sleeping in the hit and run car . He was injured pretty badly . The person who hit him did not know someone was in the car . No dash cam but cameras picked up everything and it was a big settlement .

I'm sorry that happened. What a thing. Amazing that you captured it. He totally knew he hit you. Best of luck getting it repaired.

But you would think someone with a 911 would think about where they are parking. Not saying who's at fault but bottom line his car is damaged. And it is clear the truck had a hard time getting out with the car parked there. Only loser in this case is the 911, no damage to the truck. Just another day operating a commercial vehicle.

In 1999 I bought a new BMW 5 series and on day 2 drove it to a shopping mall and parked as far away from the door as I could and in a marked parking spot. There was a good aisle way separating from a row of parking spots that were arranged perpendicular. I didn't give it a thought. When I came out after the movie, someone in one of those perpendicular spots had backed out and into the back of my car with 35 miles on it. I was bummed to say the least, but I never parked in that type of spot again. People sometimes back up and don't look at what is behind them. In the OPs case, that truck driver doesn't look like he had a lot of space to back up and depart and the 911 is a small car. With a box like that, there is a good chance he didn't notice the 911 until he hit it. Pretty bad behaviour to drive off (as he will find out when the company calls him in). In the mean time, like me, the OP has learned a lesson about where not to park.

You don’t get to damage property because it’s not parked in a spot.

I'm not an officer but from what I understand, aren't car accidents on parking lots considered a civil issue as it's on private property? What tickets or charges can be given by police if it's not on a state/federal road?

That's messed up, I hope you do report the son of a b@#$% to the police and even his work place. In GA a hit and run results in automatic loss of a license for 1 year in addition to fines etc so hopefully whatever state you're in is able to get the jerk off the road for a while. I got a 7k diminished value check for my rs5 a few years ago and the value of that was only like 60k, your DV check I'd imagine should be significantly higher.

If you don’t come back to update the thread I’ll put the no allocation hex on you.

Oh no... not the dreaded 'no allocation' hex! I'll update it soon; just juggling too many things right now dealing with adjusters, appraisers, police records and the body shop.

Trying to figure out what I want to do as camera setup now. Sorry for your hassle and thanks in advance for any help/info.
Yes I have a rear camera which on the Targa was tricky to wire because of the possibility that the opening/closing struts would cut the cable. Had one on my Cab which was easier.

Curious how you have your cameras wired in. I’m assuming you tapped an always on source to power the camera? Did you add another power source? How long can it run before it drains the battery?
