Default How to check oil level

2025 - 911 - I cannot find how to check the oil level in the PCM. The Owners Manual, both the paper version and the digital version say go to Vehicle > Oil Level. When I go to Vehicle I get the "Drive" function screen. I have gone through every menu imaginable on the PCM and the dash displays and cannot find a way to check the oil level. My service advisors and sales guy are on vacation this week. I hope they would know but I wanted to try here while I wait on them. I also have a 2023 Macan and it's easy. And I traded in a 2022 Boxster GTS and it was easy. Where is it hidden on this 992?

It’s on the dash, right side. You need to cycle through the displays.

Press the RIGHT hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel and turn the wheel until you get to OIL LEVEL. Then press that to see your level. To return to your display press the BACK ARROW.

Not on my car. The only thing I can check, by following above instructions is the tire pressure. I just sat in the car for 30 minutes scrolling , spinning, turning, pushing and touching every menu available. Moses oil check appeared. I have. 2025 911. I’ll see if there is anyone at the dealer today that knows and I’ll post the magic instructions here

I have a 2024 Cayenne loaner right now and the instrument cluster looks similar to the what I’ve seen on the 992.2, at least just glancing at it. But accessing the oil level is basically the same as on the 992.1, other than there are some other displays where it isn’t available (e.g. the condensed 5 tube display).

I had to scroll to the display with only 3 tubes, then select the one on the right, scroll to the display that has 4 information lines, click the scroll wheel, scroll to oil level, click again.

1. Go to this specific screen to the right showing oil temp and oil psi.

2. Press scroll wheel on right side of steering wheel once. A new display will pop up with 4 possible selections. Using the same scroll wheel, scroll down to “Oil Level”. Press same scroll wheel once to see the following.

3. This same info is also available in the Porsche App under “Vehicle Details”.

I find VW cars like ours are convolutedly complex and not intuitive like an Apple product. These cars are getting to be like Toyota complexed unnecessarily. Remember the analog days?

My Porsche dealer had a specific designated employee who was the official IT trainer for customers. He sat me in the driver’s seat and walked me through the instrument panel, PCM, adding the cell phone and setting up CarPlay, satellite radio, etc. He was about 22 years old and explained everything in about 20 minutes……most of which I have now forgotten. But, it is a Porsche mistake to not explain how to check the oil level in the owner’s manual.

folks ITT missing that it's a 992.2 -- it may be that the infotainment and service displays aren't the same as 992.1.

Yup… I think that is an unstated assumption underlying the OP’s original post and exactly why I added my comment in paragraph 3 of post #8 above noting that the oil level percentage is now available under “Vehicle Details” in the Porsche App. This is a fairly recent upgrade to the App. The oil level info in my Porsche App is now identical to my instrument panel reading. This new change in the Porsche App occurred at about the same time the first 992.2 base vehicles were being delivered. Mere coincidence? I have no idea. But, a possible explanation is that the 992.2 software moved the “check oil level” function from the instrument panel to the App and there are no longer redundant readings as we have in 992.1. Could also possibly be a part of the new PVD program. I am just guessing. It would have been nice if Porsche explained “How to Check Your Oil Level” in the 992.2 owners manual though. Looking forward to an update from the OP after he checks with the dealer.

You mean that if you don't have the Porsche App (one of the first things I dumped as among other things it's a great battery drainer) you can't check your oil level?
