Default T-Hybrid & CTEK

Hi All

Today I delivered my "Targa 4 GTS MY2025 T-hybrid" to PPF shop and you know working on the car for couple days with doors open might impact the battery hence usually these shops are using CTEK battery maintainer.
Honestly, I am afraid of using the CTEK on a new technology battery "the T-hybrid battery" on the other hand I am afraid of consuming the battery life during these days staying on the shop with workers opening the doors or putting the car on accessory mode.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Honestly, if you have a 992.2 GTS you might be one of the first ones here to even find out.

What does the owner's manual say?
Please let us know what you learn.

Long thread on this already - you must keep the 400V battery charged, using the car, period. If the charge drops below 30%, you have to go start the car and run (idle) it in sport plus mode until it charges the 400V pack back to 80%. If the 400V battery goes dead, the car has to be towed to the dealer.

The excerpt came from the owners manual. You (as the owner) cannot charge the 400V battery with an external charger (for one reason, is that no such charger exists). The car would need a whole step up setup to use a 12V charger to charge the 400V, and would require high current even if such were available.

Notes on leaving the vehicle unused for long periods

For idle periods of two weeks or longer:
  • Do not park the vehicle with a discharged high-voltage battery.
  • Make sure that the vehicle is not permanently exposed to direct sunlight. We recommend that you park the vehicle in a covered garage.
  • Make sure that the vehicle is in an ambient temperature of between approx. 32°F (0°C) and 68°F (+20°C).
  • If possible, check the battery charge regularly so that the battery charge does not fall below 30%. If the charge level of the high-voltage battery falls below a defined threshold value, the emergency starting can only be carried out by a Porsche Center.
For idle periods of two months:
  • Run high-voltage battery for several minutes in SPORT PLUS driving mode before parking the vehicle to charge the high-voltage battery to above 80%.

It's a car ! The storage suggestions dont seem practical ! In many countries this means a heated and air conditioned garage. Don't park it in the sun !

All seems very fragile and head to the dealer for " emergency start " in case of flat battery. I wonder what the self discharge rate is ?

There are no instructions at all for more than 2 months.

Each summer I spend 2 months on my boat and given I have 2 cars ( Cayenne and 992 turbo s ) it is quite plausible that the 992 could be out of use for more than 2 months

Read the collateral thread where this is discussed at length. If you follow the owners manual advice, no one living in N. Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Florida, Texas or Arizona can own a 992.2 GTS as a practical matter.

Thanks for posting this manual excerpt...I was considering taking the leap but not after reading this.
Seems unbelievable that Porsche would push such a design out the door with this kind of maintainability requirement.
Time to take a step back and go into, wait and see mode.
