Default PCM Display at startup- delay

I have had my car for approx 3 months now, 2021 base 992 CPO with approx 20k miles. Love everything about it except one thing. The PCM display has a pretty big delay at start up. When I get it back to the dealer for a service will bring it up with them but anyone else have this issue? I checked and my car has the latest update so its not a software version thing and I didnt see any forum postings that I could find to indicate this is common. I would estimate it takes approx 15 to 20 seconds for it to load. I get the wheel spinning in the middle of the screen before it comes on. Its not earth shattering but its annoying especially when I am in a hurry and want all of my settings in place.

Thanks for any feedback

Doesn't bother me. I twist the key to accessory and press the shortcut button to open the garage with no delay. Then start up engine, wait 15-30 seconds for engine oil to cycle (not for the revs to settle) and out the driveway with everything running and phone connected. 1-2 minutes max.

You have PCM 5.0; this is normal. One of the reasons they switched to PCM 6 in later cars.

Is your PCM logging into your "My Porsche" account or is is booting up into Guest mode? Do you have good cellular signal in your garage?

Since your car is a CPO, I would check to ensure the PCM was reset to factory defaults and that it not trying to log into the originals owners account, etc.....

2021 C2S CPO owner here. Your PCM is completely normal and likely takes longer than 15-20 seconds. Porsche’s tech sucks. I was hung up on getting a 2022 for the improved PCM alone but realized it really doesn’t matter that much. Enjoy the car. You’ll get used to the slower load time. By the time I mount my radar detector, buckle up, unload my pockets (or appropriately position their contents), put on my shades, and punch my destination, if needed, into Waze or Google Maps, Car Play has loaded and I’m ready to roll.

Thank you, it was reset so its not trying to log into the former owners but that would certainly make sense as to why the delay if its logging into mine at the same time until it gets connected but PCM 6 I assume is not a software upgrade only so I take it this isnt going away any time soon.

PCM 6 is different hardware, there is no upgrade path at least not a sensible one. BTW, one trick is to unlock the car before you get into it. That fires up and starts the PCM load.

Great hack, will just remember to use the remote and unlock early to help wake it up. Again, this is a minor thing since everything else about the 992 in my opinion is amazing. Thank you

yep - even just walking towards the car I hit the unlock button and PCM will wake up. That takes care of most of the delay

I have a 22 gt3 & a 24 gts one with the new and one with the old.
i haven’t had the update done to the gt3 because with the exception of the colored icons I don’t know what’s different.
sure it’s my lack of tech knowledge .
what’s supposed to work better?
probably something I dont know that exists?
for both cars I use the standard remotes so I don’t use the pcm on start up.
im a dinosaur!!
plus the less the dealer touches the car the better…

As I recall MY22 was the 1st year of PCM6. MY20 and 21 had PCM5. So both your cars should be PCM6, and yes the only real difference between them would be B&W vs color icons.

Yep, the hack worked perfectly, I unlocked the car as I walked out of the house and it booted up immediately

Genuine curiosity - you specifically emphasized on not waiting for the revs to settle - any reason for that?
