It's only the US DOT that enforces this as an import requirement. Once the car gets into the US, it's past this. Local DMV regulations require an " illuminated indicator" on the sides and the white one counts. If you removed the lamp entirely, then it would be a traffic or inspection violation. Cars in NY are passing inspection with clear side markers every day.
Am I the only one who thinks this thread is ridiculous?
If you're worried clears may get you pulled over, maybe owning a sports car that can out speed and maneuver everyday law enforcement cars isn't for you.

Lol what? By your logic, the ability to out maneuver police = freedom to do whatever I want. Perhaps I can mount a minigun to my Bugatti...
I'm just trying to lessen the chance of getting pulled over, especially by over enthusiastic police that may be looking for any reason to do so, such as clear markers. That's why I'm asking for anecdotal opinions on this fine forum.
The amber side markers never bothered me on my other cars, as much as they did on this one. And after about 4 months, I caved in and installed a set from Kies Motorsport. Attached a few before after pics and a short clip showing that the indicators remain amber.
If your concerned, leave them as-is. Otherwise, live with the car for a bit, and then decide if it bothers you enough to change them. To me, this mod is at the same level as not running a front license plate on the car.
Just took the plunge, and they look awesome. This was the only exterior detail I did not like on the car, and it is gone!
