Im with you OP, I received my brand new Carrera last week, adhesive blotches everywhere on the paint, multiple scratches on the fender and both doors including one on the interior panel, car is a mess. bucket seats constantly creak. buffer trails on the hood and rubbing compound on the edges, I have purchased brand new cars from Jeep, BMW, Toyota, they were all perfect at delivery. This will be my last Porsche.

Are you planning to not take the car in for the 1 year service even?

I'm dreading the visit but I figured there was no avoiding it sooner or later.

With 28k miles on my 992.1 GTS and none of the things you've mentioned bother me. Even the seat belt buckle has left some dings on the leather on the b pillar and that is acceptable to me. Cars are meant to experience wear and tear. Also, Porsche dealers are not body shop and will not move panels, realign bumpers, etc...these imperfections you mentioned are unavoidable. Taking apart body panels, dash, etc would likely result in more problems. Arguably my 997.1 turbo had better alignment and tighter tolerances between body panels, but you just have to change your mindset to truly enjoy your experience. Like someone said, imperfection is perfection.

Its a cycle, people will bash on the new model and praise the previous one. Then a few years later they will accept the "old new one" and bash on the newest one. For example, people hated when the engine had turbos on the base models (other than the turbo) and now no one cares. As much as I like the turn to ignition and analog tach, rest assured that I will move on to the next 911 with digital tach and push start once I'm done with the GTS. For me, as a non car collector, owning the newest with warranty will always be the best option.

Since it’s going to be late November/December it’s probably going to be poor weather. I’ll see if they can skip the test. It seems like they break 75% plus or minus of the windows after the test.

It’s interesting how time and expectations have changed.
my first New car was a 67 Chevelle little V8 three speed on the column a.m. radio $2520 out the door,
the dealer told me when I picked up the car bring it back after 1000 miles with the list of everything that’s wrong and we will fix it.
the expectation was any new car is going to have things that aren’t right from factory.
today it’s a total opposite because we expect a perfect new car as we should for the amount of money that is charged and the manufacturing technology that is available.
I’ve had 3 992s S,GT3,GTS none of them have been perfect mainly noises
I fixed the gas tank noise on the GT three by installing airbags around it
I didn’t want to go through the drama of having the dealer drop the subframe and the gas tank and then six months later, coming back with the same problem, because the foam rubber failed again.
as I’ve said before there’s an inverse relationship with the pleasure of the experience and the money you spend

Unfortunately this stuff happens to most if not all large companies
Company becomes successful
success leads to arrogance
arrogance leads to poor and sloppy workmanship
customer starts paying attention and pull back from buying their product/s
company notices hit on financial health and wall street hammers company if publicly traded
company wakes up and try to correct course .New management team
new team tries to correct course
outcome : TBD

Well to be fair, a lot of those sound like poor prep at your dealership.

Honestly, I probably only notice these flaws because my previous Porsches did not have them. I’m sure to a first time owner, they’d likely be unaware. In my case, I think the bar was set & Porsche is just missing the mark lately. I just find some of these flaws to be unacceptable. My paint correction shop pointed out most of the issues the weeks following delivery:


Panel fitment to front bumper. On both sides.

Front boot space patch work

Ledge from rear fender to rear bumper. Feels & looks worse in person

Divots on badge

Undyed/dry leather

Undyed/dried leather

Another uncorrectable leather imperfection

Mark on dash & impression in leather

Cut on steering wheel

Unable to fix carpeting gap

Creasing throughout entire length of rear shelf

Same here! Outside of having the front windshield replaced under the recall, my car has been rock solid and flawless. Even having taken off both door cards multiple times to install parts, no rattles.

The first service is an oil/filter change. There isn’t much to it.

I completely understand. I would’ve noticed all of those things as well and it would’ve bothered me just the same.

Those issues are unforgivable.

@smiles11 did you notice those when you took delivery? If you did, I would not have taken delivery until all those issues were fixed (except the underbody issue).

I've found that keeping the car covered in snow and ice really hides the poor quality of panel gaps. Some mud in the footwell and donut sprinkles in the passenger seat really draw the eye away from the leather wrinkles. The bumpin' sound system also masks the squeakes and rattles.

Want to see poor fit & finish, look at any, and I mean ANY Tesla. The WORST panel gaps and paint work in the industry. I have looked at a LOT of 992's, from brand new (including mine) to ones with a couple thousand miles on them to first gen 992's and I have seen a lot of fit/finish issues, but none were heinous. And I have not seen one yet that my picky perfectionist eyes would award a 10 out of 10 to. Not one was dead nuts perfect.
