Thought this may be interesting to some here. While not a corporate finance person, it is my understanding that they basically filed for something similar to Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Porsche initially intended to acquire only the V4Drive part of Varta, now it seems like they may have to spend some more money to avoid mayhem (V4Drive being an integral part of many future Porsche vehicles):

Well this isn't good. And they make good batteries. If Porsche doesn't grab them, China will.
