Default 2024 992 4S Motor Mount issue

So this is first post on Rennlist and I didn't envision it being about motor mounts on my brand new Porsche Carrera 4S but here we are. I've been scouring around the whole country in search of a new 992 when I discovered what the new 2025 model's new changes were (not a fan) So I finally found one down in Riverside, CA (I live in Nor Cal) Beautiful build with the Heritage Classic interior and all the more popular options clicked off. So I take delivery of it on 6/30/24 (was shipped up). It was late so I just parked in the garage. The next day I drove and within a few hundred yards from my house I hear what sounds like a can nuts and bolts being shaken or something to that effect at low revs. It seemed to go away as I picked up a little speed. I immediately drove to my local dealership and they acknowledged that did not sound right. This car came delivered with 19 miles and I drove less than 1 mile and I hear this noise. They couldn't book an appointment last week so I brought the car back yesterday. That's when they called me to say that they suspect it's motor mounts. However they needed Porsche to send them an audio file of the sound of motor mount failure to do a comparison analysis of the Porsche audio file and dealers audio recording of the actual noise coming from my car. Then return both files to Porsche before Porsche would okay the repair. I know long story... bottom line they approved the repair and with 68 miles on a brand new Porsche new motor mounts need to be replaced. I've owned tons of cars and several other Porsches but this is a first. Has anyone else experience motor mount problems recently or ever for that matter? Thanks in advance for any responses.

You have Sport Chrono, right? There are other threads on this. Replacing the mounts may reduce the problem, but for most (all) people it does not get rid of it. Look for the Porsche TSB for more info how Porsche deals with it and what you can expect as a result of replacing the mounts. Porsche has not fixed the problem for good. It sucks, but it's like that. Driving in Sport and Sport+ mode greatly reduces the annoying rattle as the transmission transitions faster thru the low revs. Most people get used to it and end up living with it.

There is no fix so don't let them take the car apart for nothing, even though they approved the "repair". I have it too on a brand new 1 week old 2S, so even the cars coming off the assembly line have it. Read the long thread above. Switch to sport mode and just live with it. If they could fix it, they would have already. This is a noisy car anyway, this is just part of its noisy character.

I really believe that almost all the SC cars have it, but some people don't hear it or live with it as part of the noisy character of the car, and therefore don't even bring it back in to the dealer.

I ordered my car and rolled the dice and optioned SC even after reading about the problem here. I crapped out.

You should ask the dealer - the car was just built, is the revision of the mount they are going to "repair" it with the same as the revision on the car right now? If you hear from them that a new mount was just issued in the last few weeks that actually fixes it, let us all know, we can take our cars back too.

Mine is a 24 and switching to sport mode doesn't really fix it. When you switch to Sports Mode it completely goes away? I know there is no fix for this though.

Apologies, but my post above was directed at you, just forgot to quote you.

Shame that this issue is still happening.. but don’t say this issue is part of the character of the car. Another reason not to get SC and the silly timer on the dash

No it doesn't completely go away in Sport mode, but in that mode that car doesn't linger too long in the 1500-1700RPM range of the power band which it what manifests it. You can also control it in a way through how you modulate the gas pedal when accelerating, but on residential streets with low speed limits, you don't have too much flexibility to do that.

But yes, now having heard it for myself in an actual car, SC makes alot less sense for anyone who is audibly sensitive to these kind of sounds.

As has been said on the master thread, I am not sure they will ever fix this - if six revisions of the mount hasn't squared it away yet, what will? Maybe a class action lawsuit.

The OP who is deciding to pursue this with the service department should be asking the manager about the part revision (given the car was just built, unless the factory is still using "old" parts on new builds) and what their success rate is in fixing it for other customers. I would certainly get it fixed if I knew it was going to be successful.
