992 oil change
#2
In my experience you must run the car until the oil temp is 140deg before it will give you a reading.
I have even had it not read until I actually drove it a few blocks.
I actually measure what I take out and put in 1/2 qt less so I can creep up on full. The last few checks are like 1/16 of of a qt.

I did everything you mentioned, including a ten mile run. I knew I measured correctly, but left the car overnight in my garage. next morning, gauge was functioning, and read full! still don't know what the problem was, but now no more problems...now if someone can help me with the reset service signal, i'd be even happier. thanks for your help!

You need a high end scanner to reset the oil service. Suggest you always list your location - many of us have scanners that we can reset it for you as a fellow enthusiast if you are nearby. I use an Autel 808BT myself.

What drcollie said on the oil change reset. I use an Autel MS906 pro-TS on mine.

I've changed the oil on my 992 a number of times. 9.5 Quarts with a new Filter seems to be the sweet spot, as far as the gauge is concerned. At 10 Quarts it once told me (several weeks and a few thousand miles later) that I had too much oil and at 9.0 the gauge would occasionally show it low on oil. No oil pressure problems in either case and no warning lights or buzzers at 9.0 Quarts.
