I had all the chairs mentioned here. Cliq/TCEK, LL, etc. Sent them all back. I couldn't get out of them because there are no armrests to push down on. Ended up with the ones below, bigger and bulkier but stronger and a more complete chair. Got it in red to match my interior.
I think you guys make that way too complicated and some of the suggestions here are not really useable beach chairs in my eyes (never seen someone sitting on a beach here on a tripod style chair, more for fishing or camping). For me beach chairs need to make you sit leaned back and you can stretch your legs out, sunbath - more like a lounger than sitting on a kitchen chair. Also, I need armrests. To get all that and make them fit into the trunk, you pick chairs that are low to the ground. I don't have a good pic but here you can see them hanging on my wall. These are chairs you can buy at any beach side store here aka where you get all your other beach supplies (clothing, snorkel, towels, caps, chairs, floaties etc) - I assume each beachtown has these. They are not expensive and made of aluminum and material that washes off easily to get rid of the sand.
It depends what else you have in the frunk. I have a full size storage organizer that takes up all the space. I slide the bagged chairs into the back seat. They also make it in a "low" style as noted above, if you don't mind sitting low. The low ones are even more compact (lower height), better chance of frunk fit.
