Keeping long term and adding miles

I am planning to run mine as my only car forever. I am closing in on 60 and a dyed in the wool Luddite who would prefer less stuff / tech on a 911, but accept that we are going the opposite direction to a 997, are not going back and that the lowest tech I am going to get new is on sale now. I took delivery of a new Carrera T on 1 December. I collect the pig food in it, airport runs for work, Tesco shopping, beer runs to Belgium but luckily work from home. Currently on 6,500 miles. Plan is to keep Porsche warranty until I can’t get that then just keep driving it and hope the hi tech spares are still around. Oil changes were just after break in then will be every 10k miles. If we are still together in 30 years and it looks like something Magnus Walker would buy then its a winner.

Jeff Rhoades has 148,000 hard miles on his 991.2. He tracks it, goes on offroad trails, has a camping tent on top and his goal is to hit every national park.
The car is reliable as long as you use it and keep up with maintenance.

@voyagez.fr Here are some of the longer Fidelity Platinum extended warranty terms you may be interested in, the vehicle does have to have less than 10K miles at the start of coverage for these specific coverage lengths and pricing. My contact information is below for any questions or if you'd like to see an example contract that explains coverage, repairs accepted at all Porsche dealerships or licensed independents in the US/Canada.

At 8 or 9K at year you will have say 70K after 8 years. Your car will depreciate and be worth maybe half of what you paid, but you will have enjoyed your car. The car will probably not be pristine and have some bumps and bruises. Technology will make your car outdated and you may want another car. If you have the discretionary money, great get another, if not you will have an old 911. That is my take.
For example, I love how I can get into the car and wireless car play starts working right away. If we use some futuristic Iphone and it no longer syncs with PCM, it would be very annoying and to me be worth upgrading to a car that auto syncs. This is not even related to the driving experience, just simplicity of life.

I use my vehicles like I do my Snap-On Tools. They're pricey relative to what else is out there, perform better than most anything else, and are consumables. I don't abuse them, but neither do I wrap them in plastic and foam. If I use them up, I get another one.
Where did all this "fragility" of Porsche 911's start? From the same group that think you have to align the wheel center badge to the valve stem?

I’m over 32k miles in under a year. I daily, road trip, and track the car. Buy it to use it. Get the most out of it.

They work better the more that you use them. Just look at the guys whose batteries die prematurely - it's not the ones that are driving their cars everyday. There's a clip going around on Instagram from a Porsche restoration shop and the guy says something to the effect of, "the biggest problem that we see with these old 911s is that the owners don't drive them enough." The whole point of a 911 is that it's a sports car that you can use for everything and will last a long time. The people who bought one as a special occasion car have completely missed the point, imo.

I think very similarly. Use the car as much as you can and enjoy it in the mean time. One day you may feel the interior is outdated and that's probably the day to change.

Here’s one example, but similar upgraded systems are available for other models and years as well.
