About to buy, but… am I missing something?

I recently bought a 992 in Florida, look CPO's are not cheap, and the market is still holding out for as close to MSRP as they can get on a used CPO, i think colors is important for the driving experience and how you feel when you look at or are driving the car, it has to feel good to you, after all these are luxury items and should move your needle when you look at them, the options are pretty good on this one, when we started looking I made a list of must have options, and then a list of what we would like to have, the more of those you have a check mark against the better, then tbh if the car is "The one" whether some people think its 10k high or not will fade into obscurity during the ownership, and as far as the mileage, the way i look at that is this, if its a daily i want lowest mileage i can afford, if its a weekender the mileage will "Catch up" as the years pass.. On the interior... history says the synthetic materials hold up better in the very long term compared to leather, if you sit in it and your not staring at it saying to yourself that looks cheap... its a non issue...

Keep looking. I don’t think your price is terrible generally for that generation car but the mileage is way off for the price. I recently purchased a local to me CPO 2021 C2S with a clean title/carfax, 9K miles, 4 tires that are essentially new, completed 3 yr/30K mi. service for ~9% off MSRP. I don’t think it is a great deal but based on what I’ve seen in the market, I found the deal acceptable.
For a bit more reference pricing, check BAT. I found that for the 992.1 if you add the BAT 5% fee, the cost of a warranty, and the shipping cost, the cost is close to what you may pay at a dealer.
i think one of the bigger issues with this deal is the mileage….too high for the price.
Sample of one…I tried to get a 2022 that is listed at $10k over sticker at MSRP and the dealer said no….they already have offers at that price. That was weeks ago and the car is still listed at $10K over sticker and after a recent check-in, they said they would do it at $5K over but not MSRP.
I think the market is still strong for these cars.

I am sure I am missing something important here. I do agree with somewhat of a decent market still out there for all the 992s, yes, I agree. Your example was a bit off or maybe it is just me. Maybe "that price" refers to MSRP when I am thinking it refers to the "$10K over sticker" price.

OP - I believe it’s a good thing to hear the same response over and over again. Certainly your money your choice. The optimist in me believes RL is more positive than negative in that sense. FWIW, there are plenty of dealers on here and obviously their business model is to maximize profits. Nothing wrong with that. Similarly, I firmly believe it pays to be patient and do the research necessary to make a good decision for yourself. Forget about the price for a moment, which i agree is high, but it’s either the right car for you or it isn’t. Typically, in the pre-owned space, you can find better value for more options. For example, full leather, sport exhaust, etc. CPO is a nice to have, but I wouldn’t let that be a determining factor only. This is an advantage the Porsche dealers have over independents.
I don’t know if 2-months is a long time these days for a base car to sit. Either way, price will drive that and when management decides to move it they can drop the price or wholesale it. They’re just not there yet apparently.
I would go sit in some 992s and see what you like.
Good luck!

Just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who responded with candid feedback. This was immensely valuable feedback for me. I now plan on being patient and waiting for the right cars to come to market - and only then trying to solve for a good deal.
cheers!
cheers!

That does not support the "strong market" statement much, if it is still sitting there with (plural) offers at $10K over. Now they are saying the would take $5K over?

“That price” is sticker. I say the market is strong since a dealer rejecting an offer of MSRP for a 2 year old 7K mile car that has been sitting for weeks indicates they think they can get over MSRP…..on the surface it seems crazy but feels like an indicator of a “strong” market.

What do you guys think about this build? I like it better than the prior. And deal-wise, we're looking at $105k (including shipping from east cost to west coast) on a $120k MSRP. It has 15k miles, CPO.

This is a better deal than the last for sure as it includes CPO. I think I see what you're trying to accomplish and this car fits the bill. Go for it.

If you have the VIN, plug it into this value trade-in tool with one of my local dealers. It’ll give you an idea of what the dealer paid for that car, and how much you can negotiate.

It spit out $87k 🤦♂️ I figure a few k to bring it to CPO standards so they’re making $10-15k on this?!
