Hi all. If you are on 992.2 S allocation waitlist, would you try to get on 992.2 base waitlist since officially we know 992.2 base engine will be non hybride and 992.2 S Most likely will be hybride engine. What would you do if you are S waitlist right now?

As someone else pointed out on another thread, the conservative sweet spot it seems is the Base C4. You get that added power, you get the better brakes, and with the C4 you get the LSD.

Smooth operator…you need to go to another dealer. My friend walked into Porsche Kitchener 2 months ago and his S just landed in Canada. I bought a base from Oakville last month that is being built next week. You shouldn’t have to be on a waitlist now in Ontario.

Why do say most likely hybrid? Car and driver early leak is batting 1000 so far, they said the base and s will keep the twin turbo and add ~10hp each. So far so good with them being the leak talking piece of Porsche. Where have you heard the s will be hybrid? I am waiting for 992.2s also, fully expect it to be twin turbo plus 9hp.

No one is giving a source. Plus the local dealers are still trying to sell cars they have now, they are not to be fully trusted. The dealers have expensive used inventory they are trying to move. So far car and driver article seems spot on, they had great details that hasn’t been proven wrong. All the experts on Rennlist were 100% sure the hybrid was AWD only, I definitely see rear wheel drive hybrid gts on the configurator. I expect the 911 s to be a twin turbo no hybrid and may be the last 911s with a manual, that is what I am hoping for, if not o well.

Porsche can’t achieve Lambda 1 requirements with the .1 GTS engine setup without de-tuning to the base specs. There’s almost no chance they are going to be able to bump the S by ~10hp using the existing .1 engine setup. The only logical conclusion here is that the S will be a detuned .2 GTS like @silversurfer6 already mentioned. Maybe we’ll get a manual T with the same specs as the base in a couple of years.
But, from an emissions perspective, it’s not possible to get a .1 to reach the upper 400 hp range without breaking Lambda 1 and running the engine rich. So, the S will need to transition to the turbo hybrid configuration regardless.

the people who know don’t talk and the people who talk don’t know, always has a ring of truth. I do like speculating as much as the next person and wasting time here. 😀

I don’t know it’s hard to make an inform decision with something that hasn’t been offered yet it’s more of a guessing game. It’s like predicting the future, now insiders know for sure. I just reread this article I was referring to and I can’t see any mistaken calls maybe when it first came out KG weight was referred to as lbs, maybe that was just my bad memory. Personally, I think porches insiders made a decision to drop detailed information to this author, like an intentional leak. Time will tell https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...e-911-preview/

Somehow C&D posted wrong information about NA engines in the carreras . They went back and fixed the article.
Regarding insiders we are probably talking about a huge amount of people. The info has been available since September last year, even from before.
Anyway, I think the best informed decision can be made when all the facts are on the table and so it is better to wait.
