Default Any way to disable steering wheel buttons for a while.

So I had my first Porsche club track experience last weekend....all went well but one distraction.

I have one of my dash buttons programmed to shut off the PCM display but
when your cranking around the corners your gloved hands can be brush the steering wheel buttons which makes the PCM try
to do stuff.

Once I hit the voice command button (which is the most exposed) and it started responding to the voice of my instructor
and turning the display back on.

So I am looking for an easy way to shut off the PCM from responding to the steering wheel buttons
so it doesn't happen next time.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

silly question but why are your hands anywhere near the center console buttons when you're on a track at speed? What are you doing with your hands? They're not at 9 & 3?

Sorry edited for clarity. My hands (or more exactly my gloves) brushed/bumped the steering wheel buttons.

and I apologize, I'm not trying to demean or belittle you. I just don't understand the dynamics of your situation is all. Peace out.

7MT and no worries.....I typed the original one on my phone while waiting to get my allergy shots
and they came to get me before I could proofread and hit save anyway.

My edit was done half way through my first victory beer (making it through a workday is a victory right!).

The 7MT is part of the issue because you have to hold on to the wheel tightly when you take your right hand off to shift.
Especially if you are in an accelerating sweeping corner and you need to shift.
If you have a PDK you can just use your right hand/arm to hold on to the wheel while turning righ. Not so much with a 7MT.

Both me and my instructor hit the voice command on accident at the track last weekend, so it’s not just you.
