Got the same Gateway Control Unit replacement email

Anyone else get this yet? Any guesses if this is related to the Uyghur-Made Electrical Parts stuff that was going on, or something else?
My 2024 Carrera S was derived first week of January. I just got the same email. I'm thinking like you if this is just the same political issue that existed with the cars her at port, no way I'd do it. I'm thinking it is because when the cars were being held at port I got an email from Porsche apologizing for the delivery delay. Apparently they didn't know mine got through and I took delivery. Do we know for sure this is the same issue?
I think it is the same issue with the cars held at port. I am not getting it done. I called my dealer and they said my car has no recalls or other issues, so the emails I received must stem from the fact the part came from a place it shouldn't have pursuant to sanction issues. There is nothing wrong with my car, no squeaks, rattles, nothing. No way I'm having them start taking it apart. I'm sure Porsche had to say they did their due diligence to get the parts recalled. I doubt they care if anyone does it. They had to do it to the ones in port, but the ones that got through, they had to try. Fine. But I'm not having my care taken apart.

I completely understand where you are coming from, but just an FYI there is very little removed to access the gateway as I have literally seen the recall performed. The parts that are removed will not create any rattles/creaks, at least not in a 992.
My 2024 came with a defective gateway module which made remote access via Porsche app impossible. The gateway module units are located under the center and rear console and requires an open heart surgery. This involved removing the center and rear console and in the process they chipped the console trim and the leather trim around the cup holder. These guys aren’t careful with your investments - they just want to do it fast. I filed a complaint and they did replace the console trim but the leather trim is back ordered with an ETA of “late 2026” so I have to drive with a loose trim piece.
Anyways, don’t let the careless tech work on your beautiful interior. If you have to do it, always check after their work. Take photos before the work.
