If you go ahead with the allocation, do you know what colour you'd like? A lot of them are no longer available and may play a big part in 'settling' for a colour.

Tough decision. Personally I'd order now and go with the base model. I'm almost 50 and live in a small town where walmart is the biggest thing...that is until target came to town!!! I've always liked sports cars and was looking at lexus lc500 hybrid until i decided to go with a 911. I'm a fan of models that have been out for a few years. Hopefully they worked out a lot of the kinks, having said that there still seems to be a hit or miss problem with rattles coming from sport chrono models and maybe extended range gas tank rattles. It really is all subjective. If you can get it equipped with everything you like, then I say go for it. In my area at least, many dealers are out of base allocations until the 992.2 comes out.

Good chance the 992.2 base will come with a hybrid. If that is your cup of tea, I'd wait. If not, get the 992.1 and drive it now plus save some bucks along the way.

that is all you need (exactly what I'm getting except sport plus seats 4 way as I don't need 3k extra adjustment seat). Too many folks get carried away with options that frankly do little to add to the experience and won't recoup cost should they sell it down the road (and most will).

Consider getting full leather including on doors to add to premium experience, standard interior doesn't belong on a 150k car. Side skirts aren't needed unless you do front and rear to match and even out (dont know anyone who just did side skirts so can't give a true opinion). Might I also suggest extended fuel tank (cheap enough) and glass sunroof which looks great and lightens the inside of the car so it isn't so dark (ambient light is a waste and too fast and furious looking imo).

@Onami In Canada, getting an allocation for a 718 or 911 - especially at MSRP - that you can spec as lightly as you want is not a given. You can be sure that there will be a .2 price bump and for at least the first MY dealers will be looking to wring as many option dollars as they can out of buyers.

Absolutely agree with you! I wasn’t looking for a new 992 because I knew that most dealers would want $25k plus in options. This just fell into my lap so to speak.

my was spec’s similar, I wanted one with sport chrono (must have for me and not because of performance). You could ditch the LCA, if you don’t plan endless trips on highway. I use mine as fun car and first was worry about not having all these amnenities like blind spot, LCA, LKA etc but now when driving I don’t miss them a bit. Just make sure you sit in one and test what seat best suits yourself. I find the 18 way much better than the 14way, so would swap LCA for those.

LKA doesn't work. LCA is the most basic safety feature I can think of, should be standard on the car, if it prevents one accident it's paid for itself.

yeah, every car should have blind spot monitor but I can drive safely w/o it. People who trust it likely cause more accidents than people who don’t have it and are forced to look over their shoulder when changing lanes.

Blind spot monitoring has probably saved countless lives and accidents. I don't get this line of thinking.

The .2 will most certainly have a decent price bump. Some models will be hybrid and dash will be 100% digital. If you dont like any of those major changes, then buy the .1.

I would get the 992.1 base for sure. Especially if you can buy for MSRP with little/no options. This will hold its value quite well and may be in demand for a long time. Again, not sure if 992.2 base has the small electric boost motor assist. People like the design of the 992.1 a lot.

you probably are right and in particular when it was introduced. These days though I am not so sure about that anymore as people take this helpful features for granted while playing on their phones. Still need to pay attention around you and fewer and fewer people do now relying on these.

there’s several post on sport chrono and a rattle. Right or wrong the rattle posts talked me out of sport chrono. Actually had my SA take it off my build after my freeze date.

‘Trust me…I agonized over those posts! In the end, it must be a small percentage of cars that experience that given how many cars have Sports Chrono. I figured that I’d take a chance on that one.
