There is nothing that Time and/or the Competition won’t cure. First, I can’t think of any technical reason a partial Hybrid should preclude a MT. Other manufacturers have managed this on far less expensive vehicles. Second, as the MSRP rises, it starts to limit your potential buyers to those for whom the purchase price difference between one very expensive vehicle and another very expensive vehicle is no longer much of what is important to your potential audience. In today’s marketplace I don’t imagine there’s much price shopping that goes on, between the possible choices when the price point clears $250-$300 K.

It will be interesting to see what happens with 992.2. I too am one of the oldsters that wants a manual sports car. One of the biggest reasons I'm buying a 992 T is it may be the last manual Carrera outside of GT or special editions. If Porsche goes PDK only, I would probably look to something very different like GR86 or Miata, or go with something used/vintage. I love Porsche for keeping the manuals around and building one of the best sports cars of the time. I am not ruling out the potential of hybrids though - in fact I have high hopes that Porsche will figure out how to keep the driver engagement and driving fun level high with even more performance. I have a hunch once the 911 hybrid era is fully in place that we will see the older cars as very old school and in a lower level of performance all around. As an example, if I could get any new Ferrari today I am pretty sure it would be a 296 GTB - a turbo V6 hybrid. So, it can be done and I hope Porsche does it right.

OK so basically the hybrid gonna make the Carrera for example quicker and you’re gonna pay that much more money for the base Carrera when you can just get one now or 2024 and then tune up the ECU and pump up the horsepower, so what’s so big deal about the hybrid.. sure they’ll be some tweaking on the exterior of the car but come on there’s always gonna be some tweaking every so often at some point you gotta be satisfied with the model because the tweaking is what changed the car 5% of the look only? So the question here is how much more over $114,000 which is the base price of a Carrera are we going to pay for a hybrid?

I heard from my friend at Porsche that the 992.2 GTS will be hybrid but unclear whether it will be NA or turbo. HP is expected to be 526hp, over 50hp more than the current model.

Internal documents we’ve seen indicate that the GTS and Turbo will ditch the 3.0- and 3.7-liter forced-induction flat-six engines of today for a new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter unit. A naturally aspirated variant will eventually step in for the screaming 4.0-liter of the current GT3, GT3 RS, and S/T. Look for the 3.6-powered 992.2 GT3 to come online for the 2027 model year. The 992.2 Carrera and Carrera S models will keep the twin-*turbo 3.0-liter engine for now, albeit with slight bumps in output.

Yes demand will be high. Yes there will likely be ADMs initially. Yes it will have a price increase. (these are basically laws of physics pending economic melt down)
No the manual isn't going to be gone from the 911 range. Whether or not the variant of 911 you desire will have a manual as an option will be the big question and one that nobody on here has answers for today.

I stopped chasing the latest and greatest. I will drive my 992.1 GTS for quite some time.
But - I am currently shopping/flirting for/with an older 911 in the $75,000 range that I will send out to my Vacation home in the NW. Sort of a beater in a way. Probably a 2010-2015 that was decently taken care of. If any one has one they are considering selling PM me.

If it’s true that the manual is going away, that will impact sales far more than any engine change. Porsche is currently the only high end sports car available with a manual transmission so there isn’t any other choice for us manual drivers. If the manual disappears, then so will the one thing that has kept so many of us loyal to Porsche. There is absolutely no way I would even consider a sports car without a manual transmission and I don’t think I’m the only one. If/when I start lusting for a “new” ride, I’ll go retro. And it’s not just the demise of the manual; it’s really nearly everything about new vehicles that annoys me. The more digital and complex they become, the more disconnected they get, and the more you become a passenger rather than a driver. But I’m just an old guy yelling at clouds. There will still be a line of eager buyers at the dealerships fighting over whatever appliance Porsche is selling.

Except 993's are out of reach.... I plan on a 997S for my track beast.

The Audi 48v mild hybrid was a technological debacle. This is my main worry. I'm guessing the driving performance of the hybrid will make the cars faster just as PDK made it faster. Aside from this - the interior technology is a bit clunky and I worry it will take time to fix. The lack of buttons on the macan loaner I had this past week scares me. So the added complexity...scares me. I'm not sure I'd want to be a first adopter here either, so 992.1 GTS MT it is for me - what a car to wait and see in
