Default Auto Stop/Start

Today I put in an order for a 2024- 911 S. I have had two Boxsters that came with Auto Start / Stop. The Boxsters required pushing the A/S/S button every time you started up the car to turn if OFF. I found a third party company that makes a little Bypass switch which keeps the Auto-Stop-Start off so I installed that in both Boxsters. I know; it may void the warranty but I' had then in many times for service, at different dealers, and they never mentioned it and never mentioned it when I traded them in.

I also currently have a Macan S that came with A/S/S but I only had to push the button once on day 1 of ownership and it remembers my setting of Off so I never have to touch it.

I'm curious of how the A/S/S will work on the Carrera when it comes in June. Today the salesman did not know. He asked his manager who did not know. They also have a "Technologist" at the dealer who did not know. I"ve been on other web site forums and no one seems to know. I do know if it cannot be "permanently" turned Off the Diamond Button on the steering wheel can be programmed to turn it off but that would mean pressing the Diamond button every time I start up the car. To me, a nuisance.

Does anyone know how the A/S/S works on the 2024 Carrera?

You may get lucky. My 2024 did not have Auto Start Stop.

On my other 992 it requires you to switch it off each time you turn the car on. No way to disable it other than tuning it out. I switch to sport mode everytime so it isn’t something I think about.

At least for my '22 model:

The car starts up in Normal mode which has A/S/S on. Sport, Sport+, and Individual have it off. Since I never drive in Normal mode, a quick flick of the drive mode dial solves that with ease.

To me, switching modes with the dial is much like clutching-in to start the car, twisting the ignition dial, our putting on my seatbelt. It's pretty mindless.

It won’t be like your 718 or Macan. Auto start / stop is a software button in the PCM. Yes you can map the auto start stop off to the diamond button. What I do (and many others) is configure the individual drive mode setting to have it off (if you have the sport chrono package). I almost only drive on sport / sport plus mode anyways so it’s default off on those.

Hope I get lucky. So switching to Sport Mode you never get to 8th gear?

So if you set up an Individual mode in PCM and choose to have Auto Start-Stop OFF it will always be off every time you start up the car? Correct?

Precisely. That's how I set up my "I": Auto stop/start disabled, normal drive mode, sport exhaust on.

My 2021 has the auto-stop as a default and is always on. I configured it to the PCM, and I clicked it to turn it off the minute I started the car. It became a habit to do it and I got used to it. The other option is sport mode, which disable it.

So then you can go to your steering wheel **** and flip it to "Sport" which will then override your Individual settings?

In my 2024 it defaults back to normal mode at every new start.

There actually is no orreride per se. The settings are specific to themselves. Normal is the only setting with auto start/stop and building your own settings in "Individual" is the only way to disable start-stop and still retain the engine/PDK mapping found in normal.

Probaly as clear as mud, but that's it.

True. One must start the car and turn the dial to Individual every time (TTBOMK)
