A few months ago, I noticed the Paint To Sample (PTS) feature was pulled from the Porsche online configuration tool for most of the 992 models.
Does anyone know why or if you can still order a 992 with one of the available PTS colors? I'd surmise it's another marketing tactic of Porsche's.
I was offered a PTS Targa 4S in Mint Green 3 weeks ago. I passed as I had taken delivery of my 2024 C2 GTS a month earlier. Dealer said that was the only PTS Targa allocation they were getting for 2024 model year.
I don't believe it's a Porsche money-grab attempt at all, the factory can only handle so many special, special orders and limits itself accordingly. It's an ongoing thing with Porsche-PTS/Aerokit and a question best answered by your SA, not anyone on this Board. If you have an allocation and a final build date is set you can try putting in your configuration and see if it's accepted (it probably won't) or contact SA like I said and get inside info from SA (preferred method). Merry Christmas and good luck!
I got a PTS order November 11th (PTS was also not on the Configurator then). My Dealer called me and stated he had a allocation that was available with PTS for the Targa 4S (what I wanted). So even if it is not on the configurator, you will need to get a dealer to have an allocation for PTS for the model you want to get one. In my case, I did all the configuration on the build your porsche (just like I did for my last few) - with the exception of the PTS color, and the dealer manually put that in the final order for me, once I had the other options that I was looking for.
This is easily the most challenging PTS era in recent memory. For some models, such as the Carrera T, it was next to impossible to acquire a PTS allocation for either MY2023 or MY2024. This was particularly frustrating considering PTS was promised in marketing and advertising, presented on at least one press car, and continually on the configurator (pretending to be available) until recently. If you somehow landed one, count yourself very lucky.
I got pts on my24 gts build with a production date of April. I asked my sa to try and it went through (v215 locked) even though it wasnt on the configurator.
Paint to Sample is allocated by model year, and Porsche AG has filled all available PTS order slots now, which is why it's gone. If its a must-have for you, put your name on the list for the next allocation and wait it out.

Everyone loves to say that lately but numerous folks got pts on April allocations without it being in the configurator. I've seen multiple gts and other non turbo/gt models. Including my allocation.
If you get an allocation for my24 you should have you sa try regardless of configurator
If I recall correctly, there was about a 1 month period this past summer after the MY24 allocations came out that I saw people on here were getting allocations with PTS orders accepted, then after that many were reporting that it had fully booked up for the year.
I assume with many big money models like the GT3RS and S/T due for production this year, those orders were prioritized. I feel the same thing must have happened with the Sports Classic and GT4RS for MY23 production since when I attempted to submit my PTS order in late 2022 I was given a flat "no more PTS until next year" response from the dealer.
I'm sure with how often allocations seem to suddenly become available due to cold feet, if you put in some work you could still find one available like others have mentioned.

While I don’t doubt some people having cold feet, allocations for the quarter dropped like the first or second week of November. So of course people are on here talking about their new allocation.
True, I was just working off the assumption that PTS orders have been booked for the year and new allocations would not have a PTS order accepted. Of course this is just based on my understanding of how PTS orders work from my experience last year and what I read on here, may not be based in reality...
I had a broker tell me that he had two PTS allocations available for builds in June/July next year. I had just put a deposit on an incoming PTS car though so I passed.

They love to say that cause it is true .
but conversely, when it does become available, Porsche does not instantly switch the build your own site.
