I drove a 991 T that had a beautiful spec for 15 minutes trying to love it but I just didn't like that engine. Everything else - seats, transmission, everything was perfect but that base engine was a let down. Ordered a new 992 GTS manual without even having been in a 992 and I love it. I haven't driven the 992 T so I don't know how the new base engine is but I feel that in the 3.0 engine, the GTS's engine and chassis improvements make it a worthy option. Only other one I'd consider is a GT3.

The only engine differences between 991.2 and 992 are revised intercooler, revised headers, .5 increase in compression, and revised fuel injectors. 992 base, T, S and GTS have the same engine. S and GTS have bigger turbos. GTS has different tuning from S. What is it you didn't like in the 991.2 but liked in the 992?

Very dull boring engine. I remember saying to myself at the time "this engine feels like a strong Honda Accord engine". Heresy, perhaps. But that's why I didn't buy that car at that time. Again, I haven't driven a base or S 992 but I love the GTS engine.

I have gentian blue 992 s and a nato olive 992 GTS. The GTS suspension is much stiffer, the exhaust sounds much better (starts growling at lower rpms and doesn't stop) and if feels lighter when you accelerate .

The S is so much softer and quieter even with he sport exhaust. You can't really hear the exhaust unless, your close to the rev limiter or downshifting to hear the pop in sport mode.

Im glad I have the GTS, it feels like a cross between the turbo and a gt3.

I had a 991.2 CS2 and now a 992 GTS. I like the sound better and, not sure if it's the tuning or a different tranny, but the GTS is noticeably more powerful to me. I did, however, much prefer the 991.2 dash.

Finally had a chance to drive 992 GTS.
I have to say the Exhaust sound was really amazing. Driving in Sport mode, the down shifts even in Auto mode at low speeds were very pronounced, much more than my 991. It makes great noise at the upper RPMs.

The car is definitely very fast but controllable, there is no float even at high speeds. I was not blown away by the power though, its very manageable.

The one negative to me was the steering, its a bit loose for my taste. On my T, there is zero play in the steering even at slow speeds and its much heavier than on GTS. My car has Rear Steering and this one did not, not sure if that’s why.

Now i need to test drive a 992 T.

Is the GTS sound all real or is any of it piped into the car like other manufacturers do.

My wife asked the same question above on the way to lunch a few weeks ago the day after I picked up my new 992 GTS. When we picked the car up from the valet he started it about 30 feet from us. Sound seemed all natural to me from that distance. I had a 991.2 Turbo S with a Kline exhaust before the GTS. I actually like the GTS and it’s sound better.

From my understanding the sound is not piped in. It has less sound deadening material than in the S.

I had my Father out in my GTS on Thanksgiving Day when my Parents came in from out of town. My Father loved the exhaust on my GTS( It has a non valved/silenced JCR). He even mentioned he thought the Cabin was louder than my previous .2 GT3. Not a fair assumption because my GTS is a Cab. and I also always leave the small rear windows down which is a nice welcome for enhancing the experience.

ITT: Every poster tries to convince OP that OP should buy the same car they have.

So anyways, OP should definitely get a GTS in Shark Blue with the Aerokit, for sure. It's the sweet spot, after all 🤪

I’ll look tomorrow and try to grab some photos. I definitely saw accordion style pipes when installing my controller, but the routing was a little different I think.

Good times, my deceased 992... In the hands of a new driver, that is paying monthly visits to the dealer in PA
