Hopefully someone can help me find a part number or knows of a place that might have new body parts car.
2024 targa rear glass weather strip ( not the actual window seal) got over heated and deformed while having the windows tinted at my own business.
I trimmed to look as best as possible but unfortunately looks better in the photo than it does in person.
The seal is able to be removed and reseated with the window inplace.
The dealer says that it is only available with purchase of entire rear glass ( for $17,000 Dollars) but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that. Because that rubber will not last forever and would need to be replaced eventually. I think they have the wrong part in mind.
does anyone have access to a detailed part break down that might be able to find me a possible part number?
are there any other vehicles on the market that share this seal?
or is there anywhere that may have salvage 911 parts cars?
I adjusted original post to include that it was while it was being tinted at my shop. And we trimmed some of it away for short term fix.
but long term I want to have it replaced. But think it is wrong that it is only available with rear window replacement.
there are many ways these could be damaged or torn with out damaging the glass. if someone were to winter drive their car a scraper could tear it, tinting the window, not to mention the rubber will dry and crack at some point in time.
Call another dealer. I believe the glass for the 991 and 992 targas are the same parts. Here is the parts listing for the 991 targa. I am not sure if you need lower moulding or lower weather strip...
Agree with the "call another dealer, call around" comments. Your car or a customers? If a customer then you have to make this right for them. Good luck.
Not sure if they would be helpful or not - would a glass replacement shop have any input / insight?
