WPJ6 Recode for Bose amp - Dont Do It!
Just had my car in for service and realized there is a recode campaign as the bose woofer is frequently failing.
I had already had one replaced under warranty then went aftermarket with some audison speakers and soundshield in door and dynaudio tweeters.
Sounded excellent until the recode...Now...bass sounds less crisp and very low mid range is not cutting through.
It seems to me they changed the crossover to push more to subwoofer and cut out the frequency that was stressing the woofer.
Im going to ask for recoding back to original (probalby unlikely) or may add an aftermarket amp.
Anyone else notice this?
Any other solutions like an eq?

Ironically I was browsing for sale ads today and looking through Carfax reports and saw a few 992s with this Bose recode on the reports.
At first I had fomo thinking I need to go in for this recode, but your post is now going to sway me from it.

If you blow the woofer...throw in an aftermarket woofer and soundsheild and you will never look back.

The Stage Two system is a good option for anyone that's had the misfortune of a recode. It'll sound a lot better than it did even before the neutered it.

I'm far from an audio person, I usually can't tell much difference on these sort of things, but thank you for confirming that I wasn't going crazy feeling something was off with the sound after I picked up my car the other week. I need to stop assuming things will only get better when they suggest doing recall type work.

what do those focal speakers go for that they come in a custom padded briefcase? Must be a pretty penny.
