Default Part Substitutions - When is customer informed?

Hi, all. I was speaking with a rep from my dealership today and they mentioned that some of the cars they've delivered lately have received part substitutions based on supply chain restrictions. For instance they look delivery of a car that was spec'd with carbon buckets but arrived from the factory with 18 way seats.

My car is currently at the port in Germany awaiting a boat. At what point would I know if any substitutions were made to my build, or is there any way to verify this now? I ordered my GTS with buckets and hearing about a seat substitution is a bit worrying.

This is one of the production photos I received. Can anyone determine from the photo which seats are installed?

Personally I think this is BS on Porsche to be doing this. There is always a chance that these later installs will be not as rigidly followed as spec'd and installed at the factory. Leathers also could have slightly different die etc. Bogus in my opinion.

This is one of those instances where your dealer isn't lying. They find out when it lands at the dealership as well.

This is how all high volume carmakers work. If the part shortage becomes evident after the freeze date, which is when the final orders are placed with suppliers for delivery to the factory, then they have to substitute. If they start delaying builds after this point then they will have to hold parts in the factory awaiting the missing part(s) which becomes a logistical nightmare.

If something has changed in the build, the dealer should refund any deposits you have made if you want to walk away.

Find it hard to believe they wouldn't tell the dealer coming out of production once the VIN is created. When do they print the Monroney sticker when it gets to the destination port before it is transported to the dealer?

Well, in 2022, we didn't know if our car had an electronic steering column until it arrived.

Can't tell from the photo. I wouldn't be surprised. When I configured my GTS, the electric steering column was part of the package. It was a no-show. I've gone round and round with Porsche on this and they just blow me off. This is not the Porsche that Ferry imagined.

This is what I'm wondering. Trying to get an answer from my dealership as to when they'd be informed.

For what its worth, I just looked at the photos from my car's build which has the normal 4-way sports seats. The seats on my car looked way thicker under their covers than those in your photo. I'd bet your car has the lightweight buckets based on your photos.
