Default 991.2 vs. 992.1 Carrera T

Hey folks, for those that have owned and driven both the 991.2 T and 992.1 T, can you please share your experiences? Ignoring the exterior look or interior look and feel, what were the biggest surprises between the two models?
Looking on Edwards it seems the 992.1 T has +9hp and weights 100lbs more than 991.2 while being 1.8in wider (with mirrors), 0.5in taller, and 0.3in less length. Except for perhaps the weight, all numbers seem very trivial.

It's been difficult to find in-depth videos, articles, posts, etc. on this topic. If they are basically the same car with simply visual changes that helps too, thanks in advance!

I don't think there are many in-depth reviews on the T, but Classic motorsports has this, and they are very reliable on reviews

I wanted a 991.2 T and placed an order for the 992 T as a placeholder. I'm glad I did. I took delivery and stopped looking. The differences amount to numerous improvements, some small, some significant, all of which amount to a more refined version of the 991.2 T while very much retaining the essence of the T. Yes, those numbers are trivial.

I’ve owned both. And this ^^^ is spot on.

991.2 drives better but the interior is ancient.

I haven't driven any T's, but I found this on a German forum; https://www.pff.de/thread/2797757-99...#post155995373

Dear T fans, I picked up mine in Zuffenhausen yesterday. I had the 991.2 T since 2018 and have now switched to the 992.1 T.

In my opinion, significantly better and more valuable than the 991. Sure, the 991 didn't have an OPF and the sound was awesome. But it's still good and the other many improvements easily outweigh that. It drives more smoothly, more confidently and is less "rickety" than the old one. Don't misunderstand. The new one feels more valuable to me in terms of interior feel (although I've now also taken the leather package) and is more perfect. You can tell just by slamming the doors They now close much more firmly. With my first one, I was really disappointed at the beginning with how “rickety” the doors were when they closed.

In terms of driving technology, the steering is even better and the gearshift (manual) is significantly better. The old one got stuck when shifting in 1st (especially in cold temperatures) and if you wanted to shift from 6th to accelerate in 5th you ended up in 3rd and there was a risk of overrevving. This is no longer the case, it shifts much better. The driving behavior is, how should I put it, even more precise. I think this is due to the stiffer body. I absolutely perceive sound inside and there is enough of it. I also get emotional when accelerating, although that only happened slowly for me at first. Yesterday I took it from Zuffenhausen to the wrap shop where the front end is being wrapped. My old one had 4-5 bad stone chips, which my PZ repaired with a repair brush, but that was nothing. This shouldn't happen anymore.

I am convinced that the right T fans will treat themselves to the absolutely right car and get exactly what the T stands for.

Best regards, Christian

This may be true but the 991.2 T was more unique in that Porsche gave it's own drivetrain ratio. It made it really fast, in some cases faster than the 991.2 S. The 992.1 T is more of a parts bin combination special. But I'm just stating facts, the 992.1 T considering the sum of its parts still seems like a sweet spot in the current line up.

This is true. The box, PCCBs, and buckets. The 992 box is the same as the rest of the line up, you can no longer order PCCBs, and buckets were on stop order for most of us. However, and it's a big one, the current iteration of the box is truly excellent, the brakes are phenomenal and wouldn't spend the $10k on PCCBs after driving them, and the 4 way seats are more adequate for a touring car while being surprisingly light - can't remember the weight but the gap between them is less than I expected.

that’s good feedback from an owner that has owned both. Thank you for sharing.

i could not disagree about the door solidity on the 991s — and I’m not sure the interior is better.

i really honed in on the comments about the 7 speed. I find it to be the weakest part of the 991.2 platform (non GT3 cars) —the shifter is just okay. It’s somewhat imprecise and does grind like crazy when cold. I would guess the newer engine feels a lot stronger than just 9hp more —

I’m curious now how the larger 992 size comes into play and how the OEM damping is on the 992 T.
