Question on Dealer Markups When Placing an Order that I Configured

Regardless of whether you actually decide to pay it (or are desperate to get the car ASAP at any price) - I would initially decline the deal and see if they come back with a counter offer right away at a lower number. Yes I know everyone keeps saying the "waiting lists" are backed up for years - but remember that everyone is on 4 or 5 waiting lists to take delivery of one car, so the waiting list depths are inflated because of the way these cars are sold - it costs nothing (or some small refundable amount) just to toss yourself on a waiting list, so why not.

Yes. Stand up dealership. How long was your wait? I had my order with Ray Catena 3/22. Took delivery 8/23 @MSRP.

Just so others don't rush to the Flemington wait list, I was on their wait list for 2.5 years and heard nothing. I called Chris every two months and stopped by a number of times...... nothing. Finally received an allocation from another dealership in late July at MSRP. I did not have a trade and this was my first Porsche 911.

I live in the local community only 15 miles from Flemington. I am happy you were able to get allocations. Fortunately we live in an area with multiple dealerships.

It’s completely dealer dependent. I visited 3 dealers in the DFW area over the past 2 days and found wildly different sales approaches for a T allocation:
Dealer 1: ADM up front: buy a car off the lot and trade it back for $10k difference when putting in your order at MSRP (smallest dealer)
Dealer 2: ADM of $10K on delivery (medium sized)
Dealer 3: No ADM (largest dealer of them all)
Unfortunately you have to do the leg work to figure out the lay of the land.

My experience with shopping around.
(1) Dealers with "Demand Slots" are not charging ADM but you don't have an allocation yet so expect to wait 3-12 months to get an allocation slot if that.
(2) Dealers with an allocation want to charge an ADM ($10K-$15K) because they know that someone who really wants their 911 now will take that slot immediately.
I have a deposit for #1 at a dealer, and I visit another dealer who has #2 above and I can have my 911-T as soon as January if I go with #2. ADM they are charging is $10K.

Thank you for the replies here - I did not know the difference between the different types of allocations. I appreciate this forum for so many reasons, including being able to learn things that the dealership did not explain...
