$10K over MSRP?

Essentially breakdown to the following. Do you want 992.1 at the price you can get now and know what you get or the 992.2 with a price difference for sure smaller than 10k(price increase for sure) and other unknowns?
18 months is a long wait. Depends how you make your money and how fast you make it. Time is money. Life is short.

I paid the ADM, got my car in four months and have been driving it since late January of this year. I am still on the waiting list at MSRP at another dealer.....been on there for 14 months.....have not heard a thing from them. Not that I want another car, just saying.....

Hi everyone, I have an opportunity for a 2CS build, delivered right before Christmas.
I'm being asked asked $10K over MSRP. The $10K are used as down-payment AND non-refundable.
Is this typical of the industry at this point (seems to be slowing down a tad)? I didn't think that we were still above MSRP, but the subtle message is basically: pay MSRP and wait 18 months or pay $10K over and get your car in 4 months.
I'm having some concerns over paying $10K above MSRP weeks / month before the 992.2 is announced - which as usual, will decrease the value fo the preceding generations.
Thanks for your input.

And depending on the state you are in (assuming you are in the U.S.), a non-refundable deposit is fiction and legally unenforceable.

Another huge consideration is that Porsche has been astronomically raising prices. Base price on a 2020 Carrera S was $113,300. Today, for essentially the same car, a 2024 Carrera S starts at $131,300. In 2023, the base price was 123,000 so that base price jumped by 18K since 2020 and in just one year, it increased by $8.3K.

Someone once said here, 'you buy the car, not the deal'. Will the 10k hurt? if so, then this may not be for you. But as others said, prices WILL climb for MSRP.

As a blue collar guy myself saving up to hopefully buy a 992 C4 GTS in 2 years I would definitely agree, but at the same time with price increases you might end up paying that 10k anyway. I think what others have suggested with trying to see if they will let you do other add ons instead if you really want it now.

"To pay or not to pay"- that be the question.
On principal alone I would noy pay above MSRP. BUT - times a changing, we are not getting any younger, and we are not guaranteed a tomorrow.
In some way, shape, or form you are probably going to pay it so why not enjoy it sooner than later.

Another way to look at this is that we are very fortunate in the US. Even with crazy ADM we are still cheaper than most places. I have a friend that paid 327k for a C2S in Manila. There was a poster from Singapore who was going to be in the car for a million once all fees were paid. Some countries have 100-300% taxes on these cars. Hell canadians now have to pay the piper crazy money to have one.

Those who chose to wait for a MSRP deal didn't wait all that long and others are still waiting 18+ months with no end in sight. No doubt the price will increase again whenever 992.2 is released and perhaps additional price increases. You may pay that $10k and then some in 18 months.
I have an MSRP deal but Porsche also had two price increases so I really didn't save any money and have to pay a back-door ADM too. I am required to buy PPF from the dealer, full front end for $2,499.00 but at least I am getting something. I think if I was asked just to pay $10k ADM I would ask if they will let you spend the $10k on the service plan, pre-paid maintenance, or even an over-priced watch.

I am looking for a 911 Turbo S Cab and a dealer in NY wants $40K over MSRP... choking on that. Happily pay $10K. You should do it. Just skip Starbucks for a few weeks.

I just paid 10K ADM for a 2023 911T that was on the lot. I got the feeling they were charging the ADM because I was out of state. I did get them to throw in PPF, 2yr maintenance and shipping to me in an enclosed trailer. I should receive Thursday or Friday. It was worth the money because I'm not waiting and the build was almost exactly how I would have done it.
Additionally, if I build a 2024 to the same spec the MSRP is about $9K more than my 2023.
At the end of the day, it's a personal choice.
Best of luck!

Considering my last car cost 30k I don't think I could stomach that lol. Would have to start looking at older gens and hope the price doesn't increase to match lol.

You did the right thing, you paid ADM yes, but you got the car in only 4 months and are already enjoying it! congratulations.
I would think that your car is already a 992-2?

In the last 12 months, my wife has been diagnosed with ALS, and I have had a Stroke. So while no one likes to throw money around needlessly, there is something to be said for timeliness. Life happens. I'm in the "Get it now" camp.

About a year ago I broke an ankle and required surgery. About 2 months later, before I was recovered from the ankle injury, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. It's been a long road and I'm still recovering from that, but you can bet I've lost a lot of muscle mass and in some ways I feel I've lost about 10 yrs of age. Just by coincidence, my T allocation came thru a couple months ago. In some ways timing was terrible, but in some ways couldn't be better. You bet I jumped at the allocation, and if I'm fortunate enough to get back to track shape, you'll know exactly where to find me and my Rubystone T whose name is Allan.
