Just a question. Relax
This isn't exactly accurate. Porsche claims it reduces lift, and if you think that wing on the back (very similar to the 991 GT3 wing) isn't functional, then I don't know what to tell you.

You are a new guy to Porsche cars?

The rear wing adds downforce to the rear of the GT3 at about ~100 MPH. Have you ever owned and or raced a Porsche GT3?

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what this has to do with my statement. I was stating that the Aerokit spoiler is not an “appearance” package but does provide actual aero benefits.

That is not what you stated, You said it reduces lift.

How many GT3 cars have you owned..? How many 991/992 Porsche 911 cars have you owned?

I said Porsche claims it reduces lift. Which is true. See the link below.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2020...ges-19950.html

“The new Aerokit has been engineered at Porsche’s development centre in Weissach where experts spent months optimizing the design and function. Prototypes were carefully honed in Porsche’s wind tunnel to ensure that the Aerokit fully delivers on its striking visual promise of reducing the uplift forces over both front and rear axle.”
And again, why is whether I’ve owned a GT3 or not relevant?

From basic aerodynamics it’s clear the 911 will produce lift based on the cross section, just like a cambered airfoil.

not true at all. If you do research on Porsches press releases for the 992 aerokit and even the 991 turbo S aerokit, Porsche mentions that it reduces lift (produces more downforce) than the non aerokit cars. Porsche is not a brand that will make something like an aerokit and not have it be functional. On the 991 turbo S press release they mentioned the aerokit added over 100kg more downforce than the non aerokit car at high speeds.

911 Turbo adaptive aerodynamics at 300 km/h was increased by 17 kg to 26 kg in the Speed setting, and by 18 kg to 150 kg in the Performance setting.”

I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion, but it reminded me of this photo.
I was kicked off the GT3RS Facebook page for posting this. Apparently I violated their delicate sensibilities...those guys have no sense of humor

I think what you're obviously getting here is some attitude that it is poseur-ish to put a GT3 wing on a non-GT3. You should do whatever you like. If you're adding rear wing, you need more front downforce too. And of course, be prepared for lots of eye-rolling and snarky comments at Cars n Coffee.

Despite the helpful and awesome concept posted by PMAA

As the original poster.... I solved this question by putting a deposit on a GT3.

My GT3 is within spitting distance of my local port. But now I'm having second thoughts.

By adding a couple hinges plus a chain and pulley to PMAA's concept, I could haz DRS instead of that boring fixed wing crap on my GT3. I mean, yeah, I'd have to hang my hand out the window to activate DRS. But I like doing stuff for myself. Is why I got a manual.

Correct. You get the Aerokit if you want the wing look. But the GT3 wing is the real deal and will mess up your aerodynamic balance at speed.
