FYI, the original version with brass threads is readily available on Amazon for less than $15 bucks....

Where did you guys purchase the self tapping nuts from and what size? Homedepot doesn’t seem to have anything other than nylon lock nuts.

WOW...
I did not know this, as I dont typically consider license plate holder to be maintenance Item. So no idea if they are now using tapping screw on the new design. (I just looked it up). Blasphemy , yikes..!

Have a helper hold the hood level while you remove the old self taping nuts and while installing the new hood crest. The putty should go inside the nut driver socket and is designed to hold the nut from falling off while loosening and tighten the fasteners. Done this many times when reminding the crest to PPF the front hood. Also, sometimes you need to pull up on the corner of the crest as you loosen the nuts to remove. Take your time and work slowly.
