Correct, I just matched the values of the GT4 to my GTS 4.0. It's very simple just change the values of Y4 and Y5 (instrument cluster) to match X4 and X5 (Car). The original values of Y4 and Y5 were both 90c (194f) causing the gauge to display 90 (194) instead of actual temps. The 992 platform is probably the same.
I'm inclined to believe there's a bit of averaging going on with the temp. The thermostat will open at a certain temp (evidently 190ish), but the temp should vary a bit under conditions (climbing a hill, coasting down a hill). I suspect that the sensing system doesn't show minor variations to avoid driver concerns. BMW has done this for years. OTOH, the oil temp is a good indication of temperatures, load, etc, and seems to be a better indication of whats going on with the engine. I'd avoid max performance until oil temp exceeds 180F, and start worrying if it gets much over 250.

After calibrating I can see it start to open around 215 in "normal mode". Temp does fluctuate a bit with load as one would expect.
I'm disappointed-I thought the gage showed the actual water temperature. I never noted that it never got higher than 194. In actuality it is just an idiot lite disguised as a gage.
Just an fyi my wife’s Audi A5 had NO Temp gauge at all. When I inquired with service, they told me Audi made the decision a few years back because people were “confused” their words, when comparing their cars with others. And they would call service with concerns that their cars were running too hot or too cold.

This is a carryover from analog gauges where customers would complain to service advisors and everyone they knew if their gauges weren’t indicating dead nuts in the center of the range. They assumed that something was wrong with the car. Rather than try to educate customers, the manufacturers just started designing gauges to indicate the center of the range for all values considered to be normal operating conditions.

I was hoping this was the answer for my 2021 C4S 992 and the 194 deg ceiling but I checked these settings yesterday with my Autel MS906 and they were already set this way.
There were other settings on the same page (I wished I had taken a picture) but based on the text I think it was for the bar graph display and not the text. But there was
a 90C value but for the X value. The Y values were in % which is why I think they were for the bar graph display.
So it looks like these are not the only change required for the 992 2021 C4S to make the display show the actual temperature and not the limited 194 F temperature.
Anyone have any other ideas of things to check with a coding system??
So I had to take my car in for a check engine light a couple weeks ago, and I recall the water temp always read 194F before the repair... they ended up replacing my thermostat and associated gasket saying that it had an issue.... long story short, the post-repair temp is still at 194F.... doesn't move above it no matter how hard or soft I drive it... Oil temp rises to 220 or down to like 205.. but water stays steady.
Is this normal? Do all your C4S and S temps run at 194F? Or do they vary based on driving situation?
The old analog ones were non-linear... if the gauge kept moving it would freak people out.
They were only really indicating COLD, HOT or NORMAL
I'm assuming the active dampers are wide open in sport mode, lessening fuel economy but running cooler.
That is good to know, I still got 32 mpg on the highway going to monteray, cali from New Mexico in sport plus, Its nice to know I can get prob 33 or 34 in normal
