For me, it wasn't a big issue as I cruise with the valves closed on the highway. The 992 (at least my base model) has a lot of plastics that vibrate with certain frequencies. Mine does a little with the stock exhaust.
Thanks - and I missed the dyno numbers when I first watched the video on my phone. Happy to see a nice gain for the entire band. Nice review. I did add the cargraphic controller too and with the IPE and valves fully open it really booms/drones at certain RPM's. I only use it for fun runs at times or with windows open...

John, I wish to thank you for the outstanding thread with all the advice, testing and videos you've compiled, thank you very much. Secondly, I wonder when you dyne the cars testing the exhausts, are the valves open (sport mode)? It would seem to me they would be for maximum gain. Just curious.

Whenever I settle with a set-up on my car, we might do a similar video with that. I'm likely going to run the Kline valved system with competition link pipes. I would run any of them personally but think that one fit my preferences the best.
IPD plenum will be interesting with some comparative numbers. It seems that there are two very separate camps when it comes to plenum mods.

Yes, we ran the cars in normal mode but with the valves open (I have PSE stock on the test car). Since we run the Stage 0 map, the valves are working from the factory program where they close between 1-4K RPMs.

I’d be interested to know which of these setups should have come from the factory.

I got to drive a 991.2 and it sounded pretty good when you’re getting into it, it didn’t need much more unless a person was after a cup car sound for the street.

John you have put a TON of work into this thread. Tell me you are getting a few orders from it - I sure hope so. And people here buying pipes SHOULD support this thread with a purchase and not buy elsewhere for a few dollars difference.

I agree wholeheartedly with Dr. Collie (fellow Targa owner) and will be reaching out to John at Flat 6 soon to discuss purchasing one of the systems tested -- he did us all a great service with his in-depth reviews, and I will not purchase from anyone else. Thank you, John!!

@Flat6Motorsports So the Akra Ti system is $2100 more than the IPE Ti system. The Akra comes with tips and no silencer, and the IPE vice versa. Neither of them have an X-pipe. Where do you think the extra money is going as far as Akra? Which of them do you think has less drone with the valves closed? Do either of them sound different at WOT ?

I have the Akra and LOVE it, zero drone, it’s loud but I want it that way.
