Curious, are the any downsides of driving with cel? Really considering going cat less but unsure if besides the cel light there will be any restrictions or hiccups

Some CEL issues result In limited performance or drive modes. Simple example is my wife’s Alfa won’t go into sport mode while a CEL is lit. Other brands and other issues have no impact on vehicle performance. It all depends.

the one key thing is do not drive when that light or message is flashing beyond getting to a safe place to stop on the road.

ive had a cel pop up due to valves and cats, kept driving as normal.

Only downside is that if you have another emissions issue, you wont know about it. Can be managed with regular obd2 scanner checks

Won’t change anything with regards to driving with a CEL from going catless other than the annoying light. Also depends if you have emissions testing in your state. We don’t have testing here so everyone seems to be catless here but I don’t like the smell personally.
