Default So whats the deal PDK Gear Selector in Aluminum?

My dealer is telling me that almost all custom builds are including it? Why?

I think people don’t like the standard one but I ended removing the aluminum one in the end

It’s a better bad design. Not quite as ridiculous as the std one, but still ****ty

The standard one is prone to cracking in the heat/sunlight...unless things have changes. I spec'd aluminum on my build for that reason alone. In reality it does not look much different unless inspected closely.

Previous thread on this said to keep standard shifter, and use the db carbon kit to replace the trim on it.

I had a 2020 922 where the center console PDK selector cracked. To be specific, it’s the black center face plate where the RND is marked. The PDK cracking is covered by warranty and a well known issue. All the dealer will do is pull the selector and change the paddle out with a new one and reinstall. The Exclusove selector is made of machined aluminum and slightly larger. To me, not worth the money. The DB Carbon is just the side of the standard selector as I recall.

Look at both in person and figure out which one you like best. I did that and changed my mind on which one I preferred.

My SA recommended not getting it. Along with a few other interior upgrades that are not particularly noticable. I actually prefer the shaver to what the 991 and 997 have.

As noted above, on previous threads - the fact that the aluminum one is larger in size was the noted negative.

You would think the aftermarket would have come out with a replacement part for this, something with better material than stock and with a lower size profile.

Ran across this on the interwebs:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/39447118215...iABEgJXKvD_BwE

Anyone seen one of these or installed one as an alternative to the Braun shaver? I guess you REALLY need to hate the shifter to spend $1,000 replacing with a part made in China

The original design is prone to cracking. The option is very nice, but way overpriced (as are all interior options).
